TINNED copper wire! It'll be iron flex cords for mains cables next. Well rubber does have a better dielectric value than PVC commonly used.

After being settled for years with my analog cable choices, I put together some balanced 16ga Deulund tinned copper with Cotton in oil sheathing and ran them in. Darned if I didn't find that they made significant improvements in my system. So, making some more versions of them to improve . I am thrilled since they cost about a 20x factor less than my previous favorites, and now I can use top quality cables on my less critical connections. If anyone's looking for a decent source for "Duelund Hook-Up Wire" I've used these people before, as has at least one other member here, plus a few people over at HFS too. They're in Canada and they give good service. The wire is currently 50% to 60% off.

My first pair used their speaker/interconnect wire which is two wires running in parallel inside the outer sheath, they are not twisted pair, which I was expecting. But still they sound great, no noise I can hear. But since balanced cables are designed to be be twisted pair for the signal wires, I've ordered some more single wire hookup cable (same stuff just single wire), and I'll twist it myself to see if there is any difference. Also, a great connector to use with them are the Switchcraft nickel-plated ones. These are very musical without spotlighting the highs as other platings will do (imho). I used Mudorf Supreme solder. In this configuration they present a very wholistic sound, very balanced, focused on the heart of the music, while still having extended treble and tight deep bass. Things like the tonality of string instruments shine through, soundstage is deeper than my previous cables, detail is excellent.

Speaking of connectors, avoid rhodium like the plague. I got pulled into thinking they gave some extra sparkle, but as my system improved I realised they just have a nasty glare and hardness. I had to get rid of all mine (mostly mains plugs).

Fixing a problem that some have, making a problem for many others !

I don't know if cables are talked about as much as they once were, but I typically avoid (even reading) about the subject anymore, my reasoning for this is its the same old tired arguments for / against, rehashed by the same people over the years.
I realise the irony of me commenting on here.
For the record, as my system has become more revealing, I've found them to make a more significant difference, so I invested and now don't worry about it. Having said that, I will get my crossovers and internal hookup working in my speakers changed to match the rest of my system when I can.

I send some items to my cousin to try.
They have £400 RCA cables going from an Accuphase CD to McIntosh amp. So no slouch.
Swapped for my Audience AU24sx RCAs. An immediate and noticeable improvement.

I know a chap with a pretty high end system about £35K+ worth of valve pre-amp and power(it was all copper, I can't remember the maker), Ocellia Grandis Calliope Signature speakers, and at least 3 very good turntables/cartidges etc. He had £2K plus speaker cables and some pretty expensive interconnects also around £2K. He replaced the speaker cables with Duelund which he made up as twisted pairs, I think he bi-wired using 16GA for top/mid end and 12 GA for bass, and the interconnects he replaced with Belden interconnects www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122439809318 or buy this www.designacable.com/belden-8402-microphone-cable-high-conductivity-copper-conductors-hifi-av-rca.html and these www.hificollective.co.uk/phono_plugs/neotech-gold-plated-rca-dg203.html or similar RCA that fit your budget and make up own. His expensive cables he sold. I have a pair of the Belden 8402 with Switchcraft 3502A RCAs and they were the best cable between an SUT and Phonostage, they also work very well anywhere else, very low resistance, to me not colouring the end result.

I havent bought an interconnect or speaker cable in years I found some bandridge cable i liked and made up a load of interconnects, they have done me for almost 10 years, and i dont even know what the speaker cables are. They are that old that the markings have mostly worn off!
