Sorry Mike, but if you can dismiss Sarah McLachlan, up there with Karen Carpenter and k d lang for purity of voice and total vocal control, there is no hope for you

Working through still lots to do
Don't like yodelling so McLachlan is out.
By the by the voice is one of my least favourite instruments
I've done some of these before. Even bought a Jewel, Spirit album (mistake)
Good music and fair vocals or better and I'm in

I don't know or like any singer who yodels continuously. It's just a vocal technique.

At work in the CNC machine shop we get to listen to music and only one station comes in. 92.5 The River. This station plays a lot of 80's hits with a great mix of modern fun tunes that I'd never heard in any pop stations.
I've noticed I find myself looking forward to a song each day. I finally shazammed the song and was horrified by the lyrics, I couldn't hear the words so well while at work. But I've grown to love them and her voice is just something else with moments of brilliance in her vocal performance.
I've shown this to people and they've exclaimed that they can't believe I like it. But I do, very much so. I've learned that the singer is also the songwriter, Marie Ulven Ringheim, from Norway. Apparently this album produced 4 singles and none of them were this one?
And then this little number follows it
Both of these have given me great joy in the last couple of weeks.

There's a stripped back version of that first track too.

Cool, Paul, thanks. We're you able to get along at all with that original version or this artist.
I don't know if my senses are decalibrated, and the lyrics aren't what I'd hoped for, but with that voice (something between Feist and Florence and the machine) and this kind of songwriting I feel like I'm listening to a future Grammy winner in Girl In Red.
Here's one by the above mentioned artist, Feist, also played on 92.5, The River.
