I wonder is this to try and keep people happy while they drag their feet with the Hifi quality option? l think that 95% of Spotify users are not into Hifi, us Audiophiles are a small percentage Good point, most people just use it on their phones.

Sadly, I have to agree.
Vote with your feet and move to Qobuz, they are all about hi-fi quality.

Qobuz's lack of Connect holds it back. They've been promising it, but no show. Tidal did it, hard to fathom what the issue is there.
I've been using Spotify for some playback. The scrolling lyrics feature is great. The lack of Res clearly shows up on some tracks more than others. I don't like the lack of being able to sort playlists - my OCD🙂
As said, for most users, out and out SQ doesn't matter / can't hear a difference. It works smoothly with their systems, where Qobuz doesn't, at the moment.

You can install the free app and look, without subbing to Qobuz.. It's not too bad an interface. Paying the £3.99 opens up more functionality.

Indeed, Bubble is so good that I am unconcerned about Connect and the foibles of the provided interfaces.
I am happy enough with Qobuz on my Windows PC. For the big rig, Bubble rules.

What I have suffered from using Spotify on phone and connect (not sure if the latter is the cause?), is the Spotify app failing to execute on basic play requests, taking it's time, beyond reasonable and saying things like, Refresh, Try again later 😂.
Common problems, the internet reports.
Doing cache delete, restart phone and other things supposed to help, don't fix it permanently.
No such issue AT ALL with the Qobuz phone app, that's being used Casting..
I had the odd couple of second long pauses using Bubble and Qobuz but it always plays. This is on the free app.
Comparing Qobuz app Casting and Bubble (Qobuz signed in) and Casting, you think there'd be no difference in sound... I'll swear the presentation is slightly different. One is preferable!
The other thing with Bubble is it will find and play files stored on network drives - OneDrive, Google drive etc. No mapping or faffing required. It also plays files off phone storage.
There are about 4 tracks / albums not available on Spotify / Qobuz etc, that I musically miss. I own them / are stored.
I had some fun back to back comparing Google drive / phone storage playback / Qobuz playback of common files 🙂

How responsive have Qobuz been to improvements, maybe brought about by user requests ?

I have no issues at all using the Spoti app on my Android phone for "casual" streaming, but haven't used it to control my streamer for a while.

How responsive have Qobuz been to improvements, maybe brought about by user requests ? With regards to Connect feature, close to Zero. I'd read they released something as an alleged beta test, but it didn't work at all, so not a test, more of a cock up😱 They have plugged a few artist / track gaps I've asked for, and to their credit they get back to you and there is a link / page where you can report missing items - they even ask for competitor links to such material🙂

How responsive have Qobuz been to improvements, maybe brought about by user requests ? Pretty good, their catalogue is expanding massively (lots of new albums appearing on day 1) and I have very few gremlins with Qobuz technically. I simply don't care about Spotify or Qobuz connect.

Turns out I had signed up to Qobuz years ago, but not used it. I just signed back in there, so will try and get a look through their catalogue over the weekend.

By and large true, but Spotify have lost several artists recently. Even I've noticed.. Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen (darkeness on the edge of town) and other catalogues dwindling. Once that ball starts rolling... I posted this up on the Spotify chat forum - where's Hifi thread 🙂

I think that must be entirely down to your favourite genres. For me, Qobuz is almost perfect and covers my various genres well. There are an annoying couple of missing albums, but they're not on any streaming service. More often now, new releases appear on the exact day of release on Qobuz, so they're getting ahead of the game. Occasionally an album is there but searching for it is peculiar. Very occasionally, an album is on Qobuz but not on Spotify.

Yours will be classical and jazz which Qobuz seems to excel in, it's rubbish for Electronic (and no I don't mean Orb, Depeche Mode etc) and a lot of Prog Rock. Spotify Family is needed here too so that's another reason for Spotty.

Lol - Just to correct myself,
Darkness on the edge of town, is available on Spotify, it's not available on Qobuz!
I have requested it 🙂
True about Neil Young though.
