Some of that reminded me of someone it's probably sacrilege not to have mentioned so far, Stefan Grossman. There are loads of "Stefan Grossman teaches..." videos on YouTube. Avoid them like the plague unless you actually want to give all of your guitars away.

I thought John might enjoy this (if he hasn't already seen it).

Unable to find and post at the moment but prince's guitar performance (while my guitar gently weeps) at the rock n roll hall of fame anniversary was fantastic I thought.

Prince's guitar performance (while my guitar gently weeps) at the rock n roll hall of fame anniversary was fantastic I thought. Agreed. I was lucky enough to see him perform live and he was a tremendous player.

This is the best version of that track that I've found. There's also some fine guitar playing for the largely uncredited Marc Mann. Steve Winwood is on key, and the drummer is Steve Ferrone from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers, and The Average White Band amongst others. His list of credits is actually incredible. Scott Thurston of the Stooges, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is on bass duty. Billy Preston is on piano, and Jim Capaldi is rocking out on percussion, which is a posh way of saying "tambourine". There is no truth in the rumour that Jeff Lyne had come straight from an audition for a spot with Chas and Dave.

I got into Oz Noy back in 2016 when I first was discovering audio to test my headphones out with.
I forgot how great this studio clip is.

While this sounds very cool and exciting, the controlled madness on the album 'Meta' from this guy's band Car Bomb is incredible. The kind of effects used are unlike others I've heard.

I have just killed this thread, because there is no way to follow this plethora of pluckers, this gargantuan group of guitar geniuses, this pantheon of pickers, this ...well, you get the idea. There has never been a line up like this before, and the chances are there never will be again. Ringo Starr and his son, Who drummer Zack Starkey, are on drums. Roger Daltrey plays harmonica. Sting is on bass. The song is Mark Knopfler's " Going Home" (the Theme From Local Hero) For me, the entire show is stolen by what turned out to be Jeff Beck's final recording, and he gets the honour of the song's intro. One final credit - Knopfler’s long-time collaborator Guy Fletcher is the genius who has edited all of the contributions into a single 9 minute piece. N.B. Don't panic, the artists names come up on screen when they're playing, which removes the guesswork and allows one to sit back and just enjoy the sights and sounds. All profits from downloads, CDs, 12" vinyls, etc, go to the Teenage Cancer Trust. I've just ordered my copy from Amazon. I should probably have given this a thread of its own, but now I've already written all of the guff above I really can't be arsed. Enjoy. Artwork by Sir Peter Blake.

You can't mistake Beck and Knopfler for anyone else.

Agree Jeff and Mark are the easiest to spot as they have a distinctive tone

I really like that, John. I love the addition of the pedal steel, and it's being played "properly" too. Take note Mr. Gilmour. His tone reminds me of the brilliant Andy Latimer's in places. Country-Prog?
