Mercury is gravity locked to the Sun, always presenting the same face to it. One of the hottest AND coldest planets there is, depending on where you go.
Did find this. Not sure if its already common knowledge, or in fact even confirmed as being true, about how the earth moves around the sun.
Yes, because it's generally known that the Sun is moving around the centre of our galaxy called the Milky Way, which itself is moving with respect to other galaxies.
It's all relative to any given reference point. If you set the reference as the Sun, then you only see standard orbits.
Ahh ok. I understand now. The reason I've only ever seen the planets moving that way around the sun is because it only showed the sun as the fixed reference point.
Wow I actually didn't know that the sun too is moving around the center of our galaxy.
I am curious if its possible the notion that I heard that the universe is expanding but will eventually stop expansion and begin retraction so that eventually there'd be another big bang when everything falls back to a single point exploding back out again to begin expanding again.
I swear on my life I was driving home to Massachusetts from Connecticut at 1am Monday morning and an 18 wheeler truck flipped over.
I didn't see the crash. But there came a time when I saw nothing up ahead no lines on the road nothing. The truck was flipped on its side I saw its dark underside and it was across the entire 3 lane highway.
I found the driver dazed inside the cabin with blood on him, junk everywhere, boxes of juice drinks, and a person telling him its ok this happens all the time.
There was fuel on the ground so I told them We need to get him out of there. He grabbed my arm I pulled him out he walked on his own windshield. I sat him down on a large sturdy box of orange juice bottles. I checked on him and he had his wallet and what he needed.
I got in my car and drove on the grass around the truck because the cops hadn't arrived yet I needed to get home.
But I think hundreds of cars got stuck behind that wreckage for hours...at 1am before they cleared that truck off of the road.
I saw similar in France many years ago Stunning to see it happen. Seems to defy the laws of gravity and physics This driver jumped out quickly, seemed fine

Thanks very much guys. I couldn't believe it happened though I can see on the news that it is not that uncommon. I think that must be one of the worst experiences of that guy's life and I wonder what the consequences will be.
The cars that were forming a traffic jam behind the wrecked truck I imagine were in a complete stand still of traffic for a long time on a work night.
Mike, did you actually see that truck crash? That would have been terrible to witness.
This driver kept saying that a deer ran out into the road.
On the road in front of us. Turned left at a junction Slowly tipped over. Dreamlike No drama, which was the big surprise
Good to see the driver jump out looking fit

Aged 16 I tipped a John Deere 3040 tractor over right next to the main road. At the time you could drive a tractor on the road at 16 with L plates displayed. My mum and dad had gone shopping that Saturday afternoon.
I banged my head on the side window. I think the front loader prevented it being even worse. These JD tractors only had one door which was facing the ground and I couldn't get through that so had to escape through the back window.
The funny thing was my best mate was the first on the scene followed by an ambulance that just happened to be passing. Quite a few cars stopped at the side of the road. One or two were taking pictures.

All I could think was my dad's gonna kill me.
I've been thinking about the incident with the truck and I've noticed something which is the complete focus by myself and others on the human being involved in the accident.
When I came back to my car another motorist who had gotten out of his car asked if the driver of the truck was ok. When I saw the driver in there that's all I could see. The person that got there before me had already been speaking to him and was totally focused on him.
It makes me think that in larger emergencies and disasters complete strangers probably bond together very closely. Everything besides getting people to safety probably becomes secondary.
And that's why you should never put your Christmas decorations up early; 55 mph winds.
High winds swept up the baubles that were part of an art installation by Tom Shannon - supposed to be on display in London's St Giles' Square until Friday - last week. The giant silver Christmas baubles came hurling down Tottenham Court Road and into traffic, according to viral videos of the incident. After barreling through pedestrians and cars, bystanders were eventually able to stop and deflate the massive decorations. There are no reports of injuries or damages.
All I can think of is "Orange Alert". If you know, you know.
