Did 10-40-20 this morning in bed , no problem with the 20 exhaling this time , I'll do the deep breaths before I start next time . I don't have any breathing issues so I found it wasn't difficult , is there any advantage stepping it up again Mike although I would think exhaling for 30 would be beyond me . Did you inhale and exhale fully ? I sure did , I'm not sure I get any more in or out , I could certainly hold it in longer though .

I'm glad to say that I'm starting to get a grip on the issues I had post-COVID and after the second wave. My insulin dosage in January was 24/28 (52 per day). I hit a peak of 100 per day in July, and still did not feel in control. Lots of self-monitoring and cutting back on eating, as well as just giving it time, and I'm back down to 60. I hope to see 56 this week and will keep on testing.
As a consequence, I'm losing weight again having hit a horrible 92kg (a direct consequence of taking more insulin). I'm back down to 88kg and slowly dropping.
This was a pretty frightening episode, especially as I couldn't reach anyone worth talking to (my GP or my consultant). Not one to panic, I just took things under my control and thought it through. No matter which way I look at it, COVID did this to me but I'm winning the battle. I just hope there isn't a third wave!

Water Most people don't drink enough. I certainly didn't many years ago. Wonder if it helped me to get gout in my 30s. Magic and free. For me it keeps headaches away and stops the stale feeling I used to get in my head. No calories How much a day ? Much written about how much and much poo poo'd. Many don't drink any and that is not enough If you feel thirsty water first is best and said by many to be already too late so drink lots to make up for missing out If you don't pee clear you need to drink more water. Constipation can be much eased by drinking water There's other stuff sorted I forget Try it for a couple of days and see how you feel A glass by your bed at night and with you in the day makes it easy.

For me it keeps headaches away and stops the stale feeling I used to get in my head. This is so true and I drink a lot more water now. If you really don't like pure water, try adding a squirt of Robinson's Squash'd. No calories, but nice flavours (especially the Lemon & Lime).

Being abnormal I actually enjoy drinking plain, Brita filtered water. Anything to get more in ! I treat myself occasionally by adding half of the boss's fizzy water to my plain What a dare devil !

Like most health things I read about I tend to over do it , I don't drink enough water so I followed the 8 cups a day (cup = US 8 f ozs) , I'm 62kgs so I think it was too much and was up all night peeing . So I stopped that and keep telling myself to just up my intake a bit , at the moment I drink about half a pint on waking and the same before bed usually to negate any alcohol , it's during the day I forget . Since March I stopped drinking caffeine and drink rooibos tea , I haven't noticed any health benefits at all but last week I got my blood test report from a haematologist , for years my white cell count has been declining , it got low enough for me to be referred , any way from my graph showing a steady downhill line it has gone almost vertical back into the normal range ! Coincidence ? Maybe but it's the only thing I have changed in my diet .

Coincidence ? Maybe but it's the only thing I have changed in my diet . Blimey, that white cell count is stunning. A comorbidity eliminated there Sounds like the water worked a miracle even if not a provable scientific fact. Keep a glass beside you during the day. Or be fashionable if mobile and carry a bottle The 8 cups/glasses a day was made up years ago. Could be about right. Could also be too much for some or more likely too little for most. For the ladies cystitis can be a useful incentive to drink more water. I get up in the night but carry on with the water regardless. No alcohol for me, just went off it years ago. 2 big mugs of tea and usually 1 big cup of coffee in the morning.

I have bottles of sparkling water with me practically all the time. I get through 1.5 - 2l per day.

I struggle with fizzy too. Seems a good way to drink less as you (or I) can't drink a load a once

I'm making a concerted effort to drink more water post tennis matches. Pre-match is a fine line between sufficiently hydrated and too much. During the match, fluid loss means no need to pee, even drinking 1.5lts during a 2+ hr match. Half of that is a salts replacement mix. It's after the match I'm being much more conciencious lately..
Andrei Agassi was the first I heard about a sports person having a hydration expert mix his pre-match, during match and post match hydration fluids. Three different cocktails.
Anyway, post match I'm drinking another salts mix and lots more water than before.
So far recovery is quicker and the headaches I usually get (I'd put down to the stress / shock of serving), are seemingly a thing of the past. Fingers crossed on that score!

Oddly enough my bike ride of just under 2 hours usually leaves me without a thirst. I don't carry a water bottle which I probably should. Even after a ride on a hot day I don't feel that thirsty. Maybe the 3 pints I drink before I go No salts so interested to hear more from you speedysteve

My weight is still creeping ever so slowly down. I have a bowl of bran flakes every morning before I leave for work and am much more relaxed about times, getting in for 07:15 or so, still before any of my staff. I'm usually home by 17:15. The 40 mile journey has proven to be a pleasant surprise, not as taxing as I thought it would be. I need to get my flu jab, more important than ever this year. I have a slot in November and would prefer to bring it forward, but it'll do.

Sounds good Martin I always found September was the time traffic increased and always up from the year before. I too was going up the M3 and then into London This year and possibly into the future that may change with so many working from home.
Is breakfast an addition to previous ?
There is an argument for getting a flu jab later but, like you I'll take mine as soon as they have it

Is breakfast an addition to previous ? A change - I was having a cooked breakfast at my previous school, at around 07:00. Now I'm having just cereal at home at 06:15. It's better for me and a more relaxed start to the day.
