It has been strange finding myself slowly getting back into classical music. My musical tastes are usually quite complex and heavy and getting into Contemporary Classical music has been a unexpected journey. I think my classical tastes are unusual. #I been really struggling to think about a suitable album for this I was going to write about Olafur Arnarlds who started as heavy metal musician and accidently found his way into Contemporary Classical music but he rarely riches the highs of Max although his music is more consistent. I decided to go for Max I find myself that I rarely listen to his albums fully but usually find something that I find beautiful I decided on Voyager not because it is his best album, but because it gives you a sense of the scope of his music. play.qobuz.com/album/rmwl8g0em2ngc

Great, not an album I know - I look forward to this. I knew John would come up with something interesting.
I do think it's a mistake when trying to help someone get into classical to just assume that 'historic composers' like Bach Beethoven Mahler Mozart Poulenc Debussy etc etc is the only path to follow!

Film music can be a good entry for some.

Ah. OK - it's a compilation, sort of a Greatest Hits, heard some of it before. Very enjoyable. Will be looking for more, so it has to be a 5!

Not that version, but I like the original release.

Wonderful music that flows over me. Some of it is looping, rather like Glass, which is a hit with me. Autumn Music 2 is potent. It's a clear 5/5 for me. For further listening, try The Leftovers Season 3, although they're all good. open.qobuz.com/track/59951496

Glass, Richter, Adams all do looping. I believe it originates from South American music.

Nothing wrong with looping if done well

LOL! Glass' Violin Concerto is almost all composed of loops, but my goodness the inventiveness. Not to mention the poor violinist who has to play it. My favourite VC.

Sure, I understand but would you really put it ahead of the Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius etc?
