Thanks, guys.
I'm really looking forward to participate.
I'm in the process of upgrading headphones and dac, so I have a lot of reading to do first!

I should've said this in my first post, I know...
Main rig:
Pulsar Audio M5 bookshelf speakers (Spanish brand, direct sellers with incredible price/value). Exposure 2010 S2 integrated.
Oppo BDP-105EU player.
System Sondek IIX turntable with Grado Gold cartridge.
Mofi Ultraphono stage.
Computer rig (the one I use the most, to be honest):
iMac > Micromega Mydac > Burson Soloist SL MKII > Shure SRH-1840
Koss ESP/9xx headphones

Hi ishkav
I've been trying a lot of headphones recently, my most recent purchase being Shure 1840.
Maybe we can share experiences!

I am planning on upgrading the DAC and, maybe, only maybe, the Shure headphones. But the dac, definitely. Not that I don't like it, but the usb input isn't working well now, and although I've almost always used the optical input, I took it as a sign that I had to move on. And with so much affordable offer these days...

Which other headphones did you try? Were all of them open?
The ones I tried before were:
- Grado SR-325-e. Fantastic, but the treble caused a lot of fatigue and I couldn't listen to them longer than an hour.
- Beyerdynamic Amiron Home: great detail, soundstage, fantastic... but again, the treble bothered me after a while and I ended avoiding them.
- Audio-Technica R70x. Just great, maybe not the biggest soundstage, maybe not the best in any front, but I could listen to them for days with no fatigue. And they were just fun!
I settled on the Shures, but because of a little more clarity than the R70x and the extras: the case, the extra pair of cables, construction, etc.

Burson do make some very tasty gear, but I hardly ever come across anyone with Burson components (made in Australia). I like my Burson AB-160 XLR buffer very much, it does its job transparently and with no fuss.

I settled on the Shures, but because of a little more clarity than the R70x and the extras: the case, the extra pair of cables, construction, etc. The Shure 1840 are very good, but I do have to use some eq or I find them too bass light. I also have Beyerdynamic T90, PSB M4U, Philips Fidelio X2, Sony MDR CD1700 and B&O H6. Also a pair of vintage Stax SR3 electrostatics. The Beyerdynamic, Stax and Philips are open, the others closed. I like them all. Previously I have owned Grado PS1000 and other, cheaper, models, but like you I found them too bright and tiring for long term listening. I've tried AKG but don't get on with them at all. I've enjoyed Beyerdynamic DT880, lovely sound, very relaxing and easy to listen to, but they aren't the most detailed. I've owned and heard many planar magnetics but didn't like any of them! Too smooth. Quite a few others as well.

Hi Ishkav, welcome from me too ... What kind of music do you like to listen to? I can tell you what I've listened today while working:
Jerome Sabbagh & Greg Tuohey - No Filter.
Fugazi - 13 songs.
Josep Colom - Beethoven Late piano sonatas and bagatelles (SACD, published by a Spanish record label called Eudora which makes amazing recordings). I can heartily recommend this album and almost anything published by Eudora Records.
I also played There's a riot goin' on (Sly and the Family Stone) to my son while he was having lunch. He seemed to enjoy it.

Eudora - that's a new label for me, and there are quite a few albums on Qobuz. Listening to Josep Colom - Beethoven Late piano sonatas and bagatelles now. Op. 109 - excellent! I'm very glad you joined the forum. It's always good to discover new music.

... and the Bach cello suites for guitar (how Spanish!) sound superb. The player is Croatian, but I take the comment as a compliment anyway! That same label has an album which is, in my opinion, the best recorded guitar album I've ever listened.
Fernando Sor. Guitar sonatas, played by Ricardo Gallén.
You can even see the equipment used in the recording.
This is the barcode, in case you are interested: 8436551170008.
SACD, surround and all that. Impressive. And the music is just terrific.
