As per title, does anyone know these amps? I have no way of a demo, just wandering if they are good amp sound wise and reliability? Thanks

I knew nothing about it until just now. Apparently, it's 'hibridovalvulas y transistores'.

Are hybrids good amps?

Gosh, I wouldn't make such a broad statement as that! I'm sure there are good ones and those that are less good, but it would be a brave person who'd make that claim, I'd say.

Maybe Jerry could provide some insight, I'm sure he must have has something from the brand pass through his hands at some time. jandl100 ?

I had a Consonance hybrid for some time. I liked it at first but eventually found it too compromised - couldn't rival a really good solid state for slam, grip and rez, whilst it didn't have a lot of the flexibility of a pure tube design with plenty of options for tube rolling.

There can be all sorts of different topologies, course.

Not heard this particular amp but wouldn't surprise me if it has that typically rich Italian sound on the warm side of neutral.

I've only ever heard one Audio Analogue component, a valve CD player in a dealer demo, and tbh I wasn't at all impressed. It had a strange kind of unpleasant raspy colouration that I could even identify when the dealer conducted a single-blind comparison with another player. ... I identified the AA player 10 out of 10 times, to the dealer's amazement! It rather put me off the brand.

It's possible to design superb amplification using either valve or solid state topology. I often wonder at what issue was insurmountable that required a hybrid layout. I read with interest about PS Audio doing this with their BHK amps, finding the ideal solution in a valve input stage with power MOSFET outputs. It takes all kinds and you can't make any sweeping generalisations based only on topology.

So are hybrid amps not good? Should I go for something like a quad 606 power amp?

You can get "good" amps of all types. But they'll all sound different. It all depends how you define "good". We're all different about what type of presentation we like.
What amps have you had that you've enjoyed or disliked? What did you like and dislike about them? What amp do you have at the moment? How much are you willing to spend to get an upgrade?
- that will give us a guide as to what to recommend.

... and what sort of music do you listen to?

I'm using quad 306 and 34 at the moment. I like the warmer sounding amps. I'm just thinking of a bit more power so it gives me a bit more freedom for speakers. I listen to all sorts, Pink Floyd, Rock, acoustic, ibiza tunes, blues, quite a mixture of music. Budget of about £600.

OK, it's tempting to suggest Quad 606, 707 or 909. Or even 99.
But I've a feeling that the 306 is quite a hard act to follow! I've heard one on a couple of occasions and been very impressed by its presence and enthusiasm. I've owned a 606, and I suspect (although I didn't do a direct comparison) that it was a bit laidback and relaxed compared to the 306. If taking the sound in that direction appeals to you then I'd say 'bigger Quad' would be a good way to go.
But the 306 is a bundle of fun ime, and I think you might lose some of that.
What speakers are you using?

I very much enjoyed my time with a 405-2. Plenty of power and warm-ish sound. Lots of scope for upgrades. I paired it with the Audio Note M-zero pre.
At that time I liked a warmer sound and also tried a 909 but hated it - found it far too forward. It's probably just more neutral in truth but that was my taste at the time.

What speakers are you using? I'm using Fyneaudio F500's they are 90db and 8ohm . Great speakers but if I decide to change them I'm thinking a more powerful amp would open the gap for me. Yes I love the 306 great little amp but the lack of power keeps me stuck to certain speakers.
