Just compiling an email to Amazon outlining this issue - don't suppose it'll make a jot of difference, but if it helps prevent another customer being disappointed, I'll be happy with that.
I'll copy in Beyerdynamic too. I feel they need to know their products are not arriving from Amazon in the same condition as from their production line.

Huge, successful companies like Amazon have trod on a few faces on their way up
Too convenient for most to drop
I use them a lot for 30 second sampling of CD tracks and looking at prices. Usually cheaper on Ebay
What they pay their people and the tax situation is not ideal but the law allows it. Change the law

Tricky, isn't it, because if you make Amazon pay their workers more, and pay their full taxes, prices go up and then everyone complains.

Tricky, isn't it, because if you make Amazon pay their workers more, and pay their full taxes, prices go up and then everyone complains. Maybe not so much. How much are they below the wages norm in the respective countries, what is the total percentage of wages paid in relation to turnover and profit ? What does that translate to in the millions of items they sell, extra £1 on £10 sale or £1 on £100 sale, maybe even less ? Tax is the mess allowed by the international set up. I looked at it for my company but saw it as too small to take advantage as well as complicated A documentary (C4 I think) a few years back changed that opinion. From memory Register company in Isle of Man, company HO registered in Holland, something else I think, possibly Luxembourg All legit, costs in the low £100s Think tax payable was zero Money goes around out of the UK and eventually back I repeat All legit. No laws broken. Morally a different game of course. Richer Sounds at the other end of the scale. A great bloke running a great company

As a sidenote to this, it's just as important to let companies know when one of their employees exceeds your expectations as it is to send them a list of failings. A quick email can go a long way. It's the same in large stores/supermarkets, if someone goes out of their way to be helpful make a mental note of their name (they've probably got a badge on) and mention it at the customer service desk, which you'll usually have to pass on the way out. If the company is half-way decent it'll get back to the people who need to know. It also encourages the member(s) of staff and makes up for some of the miserable shitty people they have to deal with all day.

Let's face it, we all know that Amazon is a pretty awful company but we keep using it as we've become addicted to the next day delivery with low prices.

Remembered a bit more about the programme I saw
A town in Wales and/or by the sea. Shopkeepers well teed off when Starbucks and similar open and go under the local shop's prices. The solution was for all the business owners to band into an organisation which then had its registered company office, HQ and other in IOM, Netherlands and other. Was remarkably easy to set up. The Dutch company they spoke to, perhaps Accountants or lawyers said a lot of companies did this.
End result from memory no VAT and bugger all tax if any
No idea what happened in the end

Let's face it, we all know that Amazon is a pretty awful company but we keep using it as we've become addicted to the next day delivery with low prices. Agreed, although I've not enjoyed the next day delivery until about 2 weeks ago with a Prime trial, as I wanted to see what the film choice was like. Not much there for me though, so no need for Prime.
This is amusing though, my Amazon purchasing was pretty low until 2011 when it jumped from around 20 purchases a year averaged out over the first 10 years, to 280 in 2011! That's the year I joined The Art of Sound forum and that's pretty much all second-hand CDs from Zoverstocks. I blame Alex_UK, Martin, John and ChrisB for that, hanging out those worms in Spinning Today . . .
It's gone back to funnily enough exactly 16 for each of the last 2 years. And after David Brooks post pricking my conscience, I'm going to try my damnedest not to use them. I've boycotted any sort of Black Friday purchase for the last 5 or so years, maybe I can do without Amazon too?
I do thank people too Slinger, in the last 6 months 3 retailers I can think of, Waitrose, Noble Grape and Master of Malt. Those guys are amazing, I bought a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail whisky from them just before Christmas, normal price 52.95, but Xmas deal was 42.95. There was a problem with the bottle, nothing major and still drinkable, but I let them know more for info than anything, what did the they do, gave me a 50% refund. Outstanding customer service and I thanked them by both email and on social media, so other people knew.
But 15 quid from Amazon on a 370 quid amp, that appears to have been used and the second one to boot - shysters! That's actually quite insulting.

Another big issue with Amazon is the ridiculous waste from packing. Look what I got today with my Aeropress filters!

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000fjdz/panorama-amazon-what-they-know-about-usBig Brother Amazon is watching you & WILL TAKE YOUR JOBS physically , software , robotics & data mining No matter what industry you work in After years of solid sales, it persuaded him to deepen their relationship and form a retail-manufacturer partnership. In simple terms, he would focus on supplying his Bikers Gear UK goods and Amazon would take care of the selling. Things started well, but then orders dried up. When Brana logged in, he saw something odd - Amazon’s site showed it had recently taken in new stock, but he had not supplied it. “This really sounded the alarm bells,” he remembers. So, he made a test purchase. And on ripping open Amazon’s cardboard packaging, his worst fears were confirmed. Within were biking clothes that resembled his designs, but with a different logo.

This is proving to be a right mare, I don't think the universe wants me to own a Beyer headphone amp.
Just received the DHL shipping notice and they've sent it to the wrong address! My address is correct on both the PayPal payment receipt and their acknowledgement of my order, yet the parcels going to another address. It's in the same locale, but it's not my home. I guess I can knock on their door in the hope they will direct them to me, but "I've got a bad feeling about this"
It gets even weirder, when you click the tracking link for DHL, it takes me to an order for numerous other Beyerdynamic items (none of which are an A20 headamp) for a guy called Ruckledge in Hull . . . WTF.
I must have done something bad

Worse than that, Tim, you must still be doing bad things Too long in the tooth to stop now, especially as they still haven't caught me!
I went to the address this afternoon where the package is going, thinking I'd ask the occupiers if they wouldn't mind sending DHL to the correct address . . . it's a large fancy gated apartment block with 21 apartments!
I can't even contact DHL as the tracking number and delivery details are for that bloke in Hull . . . and I seem to have broken the Beyedynamic customer services department!

I think Beyer need to really sort out that situation - you shouldn't have to do the running around!
DHL have been nothing but trouble recently for me, I have had a six month battle with them.
And today I was expecting a delivery from them and it said 'recipient refused delivery' on the tracking - er, no I didn't!!

This was the response to me telling them the address was wrong;
Tell the Post Office to redirect for DHL . . . .OK, hang on, I'll get right on that.
I've asked for assistance regarding the incorrect tracking link and delivery reference, but not heard a peep since yesterday. This is going to be a battle for sure, no amplifier and a fight to get my money back.

Not really good enough from Beyer. I would take a deep breath and call DHL to explain the situation.

The nice Hermes lady delivered my new Latte glasses without a hitch today and I had much the same service from Amazon when I received some new coffee mugs yesterday. I just thought you lads deserved to hear some good news for a change. What?
