The Comet Is Coming - Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery (2019) Well this one came back to bite me as it were , another album club I contribute to is for recent releases and I chose this without hearing it because of the rave reviews , from what I read the genre was not one I would like but I thought others would . However this blew me away with it's power and sound quality , a couple of tracks I found difficult at first but I can't even remember which ones now as I'm so tuned into the album . The Comet Is Coming is a London band playing psychedelic jazz funk . Their frontman King Shabaka plays sax ( yikes!) , Danalogue on keyboards and Betamax on drums . Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery is there second album released in March 2019 they have since released another this year .

Wow, that's very left-field. Thanks, Barry, I'll give that a go later.

The first track reminds me a little of Andrew Lloyd Webber's album, Variations. The rest is terrible, sorry I really tried, but I have had to turn it off otherwise I was at serious risk of throwing my computer playing it on Spotify out of the window. The Comet came and went for me I am afraid, 1/5. Thank you though, it is always good to hear new music

This is a very different sound world and is taking me a little while to get my head around. However, it's quite mesmerising and I keep wanting to hear where it goes next rather than stopping it. The bass in track 2 is storming.
I can honestly say they're not really like any other band I know. I'm giving it a careful 3/5 and we'll see how I feel after another play.

I could have wrote that after my first listen , there was something about it that made me go back .

Ok, the fact you’ve said the same thing has me intrigued. I’ll give it another listen tomorrow.

Track 2 is a bit Jan Johansson Musik genom fyra sekler until the more modern electronica kicks in..
I've heard much less likable..

Nice repetitive euphoria.
Bit Kingston Wall like here and there too, but yet not.. nice find / share.
Sax always sounds so lifelike on my JBL2482 & Vitavox S2 combo.

One observation is that it doesn't work as well on my work computer system. However, it sounds amazing on my 'big rig'.

At times I can get into it and then its repetitive nature will start to annoy me. Hard one to mark but definitely a interesting and sometimes challenging listen
