We trying the 16/8 fasting diet and I’ve lost a couple of pounds in the first few days. Fantastic, that sounds very promising. Are you finding it fairly easy so far? Very easy, Jerry. I am close to chewing my arm off by the time I get to the end of the 16 hours, but it’s not unbearable.

Well done Paul, that's a good start.
I'm thinking about trying running again even though I have never enjoyed it. Found it too difficult when I was heavier so interested to see if I find it any easier now.

I was very definitely a runner. County sprinter and good cross country. Loved it. Wrecked knee stopped that
Cycling is good for the knee and all sorts

I would love to cycle like you do Mike.
I have a vintage racing bike that I love but gets no use - I won't cycle in London and too much faff to get it on the bike rack and go out of town. When we move house I hope to enjoy cycling.

There will be places you can go even in London -betcha Finding them will be less than easy. You also need to pick your time, about now, 10-10.30 start and back home for 12 or 1pm Afternoons certainly busier.
Parts of my route are traffic jams at rush times
Going back just a 'few' years I used to park my car in Regent's Park, unfold my naff folding bike, cycle back to the office in Great Portland Street, down to Covent Garden and similar. Saved so much time, appointments on time, no parking fines. Bet some of the roads I used are still quiet

Did the pizza and ice cream help?

To answer the original question - No at all. I've actually gone fully plant based and am feeling the benefits.

Was actually nice to have a little indulgence, as have been trying to eat ‘sensibly’ as well as stick to the fasting regime. Today is now 8 weeks exactly since I started and have lost 8 kilos, so am very happy with progress - my first goal was to lose about 10% body weight and have done that.

(I found taking dairy out made my breathing easier, less colds and they pass quicker too) Hehe, it is the new male friendly description of Vegan - you know the benefits 😉 As an amateur sports person each time you Sport seriously, you take something out of yourself, some call it damage. You play/run/exercise etc you do damage. You then repair, damage/repair over and over and over. It is the resistance to damage that has increased, as has the rate of repair. Can feel less inflammation in my body (the parts that take a hammering). I am also convinced it works on aging aches and pains. Many of which are just the bodies reaction to the negative stuff animal product food puts into your system. I'm not aged yet but I will be all the better for it when I am.. It's taken me a while but I've got there in the end 🙄🤣 I've never liked red meat, rich sauces, strong cheese etc, etc, so it's easy for me. Very little to swap out. But I did eat animal based products every day before.

A milestone for me today - the first time since lord knows when I am under 80kg!
That's over 8kg since I started at the end of November.
Slow progress at the moment, almost as if my metabolism has adjusted to the new diet but the trend is still downward.

A fast but not recommended route to weight loss is to have surgery followed by chemotherapy.
I reached a rather low skin-and-bones 68kg (the lowest in my adult life) when I was at my weakest and unable to eat much except soup.
Don't try this at home!

A customer friend of mine went down to 5 stone. Not recommended either
In hospital and things were looking grim. Desperation setting in when they found he was allergic or intolerant of Gluten

It’s good but haven’t lost as much weight as I’d hoped, Jerry so may have to move to the alternate fasting option.

I think part of the trick is really keeping up fluids intake.
You need to be well hydrated on this diet anyway but it also really helps keeping hunger levels down.
I was never able to drink water in much quantity before this. I'm now drinking low sodium sparkling water each day. Yes I know tap water is better but I really don't like it at all ...

Try a Brita filter Jules I usually drink 2 pints of water before breakfast. Most of it while dong Yoga for an hour. Go back enough years and I never drank water. Might be why I got gout in my 30s Drinking this much keeps me mobile too, many trips to the loo
