Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1977)Due to a scheduling issue, we have decided on an Admin special for this entry and decided to chose a classic fleet Fleetwood Mac album, Rumours. Rumours is the eleventh studio album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on 4 February 1977 by Warner Bros. Records. Largely recorded in California in 1976, it was produced by the band with Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The band wanted to expand on the commercial success of their eponymous 1975 album, but struggled with relationship breakups before recording started. The Rumours studio sessions were marked by hedonism and strife among band members that shaped the album's lyrics. Spotify:Wiki:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumours_(album)

Blimey. I haven't played this album for years. On balance, I preferred the previous, eponymous, album, but I'm quite looking forward to blowing the dust off of this on and giving it a listen. I just have to stop myself picking up one of my basses when "The Chain" comes on.

I have to say, I've been listening to this lately. Sounds really good on my system.

I am going to be the odd one out here I am afraid 2 best describes my thoughts on this It has a few good singles and fantastic 2nd half on the Chain but on the whole nothing I would listen to often

2 from me also I'm afraid, for pretty much all of the reasons that John gave. Far too "poppy" for me these days. I never really realised how "twee" some of the vocals sounded.

I bought it when it first came out (and still have that LP) and have bought other copies / 'versions' over the years and still enjoy the album. It is not a weekly 'play', but it does come 'out' on a pretty regular basis still. It gets a 5 from me because of its enduring position in my album 'list' - not that I actually have one!

Never bought this when it was released as I didn't know of it's existence , probably heard the singles on the radio but it wasn't my thing . I bought an original album about 8 years ago so I could contribute to an Album Club thread , anyway it's a class album , still not really my thing so I'll deduct a point . 4/5.

Wow Barry, 4/5 is very generous given it is not your type of thing!

The songs themselves are good but it's the delivery and recording taht makes it such a great album , I played the vinyl this morning and it sounded fab it would have been harsh to give it a lower score .

To me, it's a fairly good album spoiled by overexposure. We play it here every few years or so and thoroughly enjoy it, but I cringe a bit when I hear bits of it being wheeled out as background music on the tv.

I still love it. It's a piece of rock history for sure. I can listen to it and forget how 'overexposed' it has become. Difficult to find this quality of songwriting in this day and age.

Don't like the make or female vocals, especially the warbler Music is average at best for me
Then Play on is the very best they did

I have mentioned before I only like Melanie's voice but Stevie Nicks' voice is also one that I can enjoy , a bit smoky , raspy .
