You could order a Chinese LPSU like the two that I have and ask for them to be preset to 7V. They will do that before despatching to you. There is an internal preset allowing you to adjust the output yourself using a DVM.

This is an interesting Powerbank - will output 5v/3a for the Tinker and 6-9v/2a for the Oehlbach- dont know if this is enough current. They have another model that outputs 6-9v/3a but won't give you the 3a you need for the Tinker at 5v on the other output. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FL1T718/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_wnaUEbHRFCZQT

What I find interesting is that Oehlbach makes much of how good their PSU is and claim that it's vastly superior to a run-of-the-mill wall-wart. I haven't noticed noise, and nobody else seems to have commented on it, so could it simply be a faulty psu? I'd be inclined to send it back to Oehlbach, or are least contact them and describe the symptoms. They're a good bunch from my dealings with them (I got a dud unit) and very helpful. To anyone who has the Oehlbach, but doesn't have a problem, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Similarly, the SMPS supplied with the Uptone EtherREGEN is well rated as a superior unit of the type, and it does work well. Nevertheless, when I replaced it with my Chinese LPSU, I got a considerable uplift in ambience, space and very fine detail.

You've just described the difference between upgrading, and fixing a problem you don't have, Jules.

Not really! Can I hear any noise from my Oehlbach PSU? No, so I don't have a problem. But it's possible that changing to battery power might reveal that there was a 'problem' so to speak. I'm not looking to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. Anyway I'm getting distracted from the Gramophone Gala!!

There's nothing wrong with upgrading, although my wallet may argue. Curse you AudioQuest!

Any ideas? Yesterday I ordered a secondhand ASUS Tinkerboard S from e-bay and an Akasa case, so will give them a try to see how they compare to my RPI4 set-up.

I have had a quick rummage around the internet and, as far as I can see, the Quick Charge and similar fast charge technologies negotiate with the device being charged to decide what voltage and amps they can accept. I did find one 8V battery for birdbox cameras, but of two reviews one said it was great and the other not so. Both reviews are very old, suggesting the battery technology is old too. www.amazon.co.uk/Capacity-6800mAh-Lithium-Rechargeable-Charger/dp/B00BIFT4LC

There are lots of 3.7V Li-ion batteries available. Run two in series for 7.4V. You can buy them with a charger and buy a twin battery holder with switch for them and you have a 7.4V battery system. Use some imagination.

I ordered the power bank to try out on the reclocker. I can always use it as a phone charger if it does not work out. I report back.

The power bank cuts out after 10 seconds on all USB outputs It seemed to help with texture but hard to judge as listening was so short Nice power bank a pity I can't use with the reclocker
