I declined the souped-up USB when I ordered the LKS as it was likely to be taken out altogether rather than used.

It was a toss-up, Martin. I'd rather have it and not use it than suddenly find a use for it and not have it. It only put about £25.00 on the price.

What happened to the Isetta?! It didn't have native DSD support and data transfer was limited to 47 mph.

One thing I forgot to mention about the DAC. Mike, it's silver.

I've been on the blower this afternoon chatting up David Attenborough. He ended up turning me down flat though. Which is a shame because I thought that him narrating the story of how my DAC travels half-way around China in search of an airport and then spends a week travelling around that same airport in search of an aeroplane would be a ✨brilliant bit of telly✨. "Migration Of The DAC" is, apparently, a non-starter though. I wonder if Channel 5 would be interested..?

Glad to see proper and correct spelling of the word there, Paul.

And so it begins, the migration of the DAC, in 7 to 15 days...
Of course the "Global Tracking link actually says...

When Topping shipped by DHL it only took a few days Same with Jules too. So I think a good chance you get a delivery towards the end of the week

3 days later and DHL still haven't heard of my tracking number. The "Global" tracking link hasn't changed, and still shows "Packed for picking-up."
Several of the dogs are looking a bit peaky, and I'm worried about the odd looks I'm getting from my guide, Wun Hung Lo. I'm not as worried as the dogs though, especially when Lo rubs his belly and points at them with a spork made from the bones of an unidentified animal and grinning that inscrutable grin of his. I shall padlock the tent tonight.

You do know that packages go through at least two time portals, as if disappearing completely for a couple of weeks, only to pop up out of nowhere with a small thunk on your doorstep one day?

I slept soundly last night, safe in the knowledge that our tent was padlocked.
On waking with the new morning sun warming me I was heartened to see the padlock still firmly secured. My immediate joy was leavened somewhat by the fact that the padlock was laying on the ground and the tent had been stolen, along with the three heartiest beasts from the remainder of our pack of dogs.
My guide, Wun Hung Lo, professes to know nothing of what transpired during the hours of darkness, but I note that he has acquired, as if from the very ether itself, a new shirt, made from a material which looks remarkably akin to that of which my tent was constructed. He is bedecked also with a new fur hat and boots.
Lo's visage is as stone, and he does nought but sit silently on his haunches, picking at his teeth with that singular bone spork of his. He also rebuffed my suggestion that he should break his fast with me this morn. A most unusual turn of events to be sure. He seems not to be hungry for some reason. Perhaps though, his abstinence is the result of a custom or observance from his homeland of which I know not. I find it to be a queer state of affairs though, and no mistake. DHL still profess no knowledge of my parcel, and suggest that I "Please try again." But to perform the same action over and over, expecting a different result each time? Surely that way madness lies?
I shall try again, later.

YAAAAAAAAY! DHL have not only, overnight, "heard" of my DAC order but... Estimated Delivery: Tuesday, September 17, 2019 By End of DayMuch hard work, ripping out and completely reassembling of my (second) system, and the building of a cute little "nook" for it, is in my immediate future, as I will not be able to continue to make excuses about waiting for "this" or "that" to complete system upgrades. I have had a piece of 18mm Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC) cut to size which will rest on top of a bookcase, isolated with small, glued, Sorbothane hemispheres where it touches, and fixed to the wall at the back with right-angled brackets. It is, unfortunately, a stud wall, but the floor is concrete which mitigates any vibrations. The "heavy stuff," my Primare amp and CD player that is (combined weight 23.5 Kg) will be resting on RDC 5 Cones and bases, and the odds and sods (DAC, Pi, PSUs etc.) will be on cones alone where I can. I haven't yet decided whether or not to retain the marble bases that they're currently resting on. I may, in time, upgrade the speaker cable (currently VD HiFi Series 4mm) but I can't use that as an excuse to carry on being lazy. I was considering replacing my ES11 speakers too, but the addition of the sub has seen that idea off... for now, at least.

but the floor is concrete which mitigates any vibrations Don't you believe it! My previous house had a concrete floor but they typically build them with air chambers underneath which can resonate horribly and cause boom. The trick is to isolate, even from supposedly 'firm' foundations.

The DAC is even more of a bargain now. The buggers have just dropped the price by around seven quid. It's now selling for £285.58 with free delivery. I have to say, it does appear to be nicely laid out. Something has just occurred to me: I haven't a clue what size it's going to be. The usual LxWxH specs are not on the seller's page. I shall have to scout for items in a similar case and try to find out that way. [EDIT] Best guesstimate seems to be 320 (W) * 240mm(D) * 60mm(H)
