But oh my goodness - I find way too many bad emotional vibes are welling up about the HFS forum for me to contemplate going back there at the moment!
I hadn't realised till this thread that I am still bothered about it, but I am!

Ah - I wasn't clear from this statement whether the EOTW cesspit was locked away from sight, or merely locked to stop future additions/edits but still visible.

I will not rewrite the past but I will separate it from the future. The EOTW threads are part of Richard's legacy, something that he created and was passionate about. They will be moved to an archive room and locked.

I think you will find it is still visible, should you wish to look for it.

I am glad to see this happen and wish SavvyPaul, his team, NVA and HFS every success.

However, I do think that the whole of ***EOTW*** should be invisible, preferably deleted as some of the comments in there were quite offensive, especially when not provoked or warranted. Otherwise it just comes across as a

half-hearted initiative and therefore kind of defeats the objective.

Thank you for posting my 'New HFS' statement here, and thank you for your kind wishes for the future of HFS & NVA. I, too, look forward to a positive relationship between us.



Is my initiative half-hearted? No. I have locked and archived EOTW and it will not be reopened. I have done this without asking for anything in return. I've done it because it's the right thing to do. The 'commercial' decision would have been to hand HFS to it's existing members, disassociate the new NVA from it entirely and set up a new NVA user forum, but that would not do justice to the scores of people who have contributed positively to the forum over many years and it would not stop abusive content being posted in EOTW.



Is my initiative a compromise? Absolutely. It is a positive and decisive compromise...it gives those who were active contributors to EOTW the ability to put the past behind them, and it gives those who were affected by EOTW the reassurance that EOTW is now firmly in the past and that no new content will be posted. Compromise is how conflict is resolved. Archiving and locking EOTW is the best way to give all parties an incentive to move on.



The bans on NVA & HFS (and HFS members) at this and other forums may or may not be lifted. Either way, I will not allow my ego or my emotions to get in the way of drawing a line under the past. So, I am saying to owners and members of other forums that, while it is not an easy thing to do, this will be the best ever opportunity to put conflict behind us. I have issued a 'Day 1' general amnesty and an 'Open Door' invitation to members of all forums to participate at HFS with a clean sheet. Again, I have done this without asking for anything in return.



I cannot rewrite the past, but I will separate it from the future. If you can find a way to consign the past to history, I thank you. If you are not yet ready to do that, I will understand.

Hi Paul and welcome back to TAS, it's been a while.

I do understand your predicament, but equally, I do think that it would be better if EOTW was archived and invisible.

A way to keep those members that contributed to it 'sweet' would be to give them access to it individually if they ask. That way you are not deleting it, but removing it altogether from general view.

I appreciate you are likely very busy, but it would also be nice to see you contributing here more.

Of course there has been some gain, but not as much as would be gained by getting rid of it all together.

I actually can't believe in this day and age that people can actually write some of the stuff that appears there and be pleased with themselves, it's so sad.

How can we fix the world when this sort of thing goes on in what is supposed to be HiFi Forums.

I only made the suggestion, whether you think it's a good idea is totally up to you, but I suspect you won't gain many new neutral members if they read that thread first.
