Not having heard a Yggdrasil, I wouldn't even attempt to predict how it sounds, certainly not from just the crosstalk figures. However, at the price it should sound better than the Gustard  |

This is what Mike was referring too - DACs that measure shiiit but people still love them - the Yggy has quite a following.
I would really like to hear one but not going to fork out a lot of cash for the privilege.

Manufacturers trying to please both camps goes back a number of years.
My old Ayre C-5xe SACD player featured a switch on the back marked 'measure' and 'listen'. The manual stated that the 'measure' position gave better measurements while the 'listen' position sounded better. And so it was and I left that switch set to 'listen' throughout my time with it.

On the one hand it's good that DAC companies are taking note of feedback and being a bit competitive but let's hope it doesn't get silly ...

Sabaj A20d around £300.
Looks reasonable value but I really don't like the 'brick' design for some reason.

There's a "matching" class D amp and headphone amp too. It might work out as a decent second systerm for someone. They say the amp has a " medical grade" power module, and then ruin everything with bollox like " the large-frame low-leakage switching power supply transformer, making the A20 more calm and organised when facing large-scale music such as symphony". These companiues REALLY need to get their acts together with proper English copy rather than Chinglish. I'm sure they'd sell better if the language was better. I'm really not sure what to make of "T he output noise voltage of NJW1194 produced by the old Japanese HiFi chip manufaturer NJRC is only -117 dBVtyp. The distortion rate is onlt 0.0015% typ". It's also got a subwoofer out, so it's probably never going to be considered a "proper amp," simply because of that. But for a 2:1 home theatre setup it might do quite a decent job, a la the Q5. Sorry, rambling seems to be my thing today. I'll stop hijacking the DAC thread now.  |

SMSL have a new R2R DAC, the VMV D3, but it will set you back $3.5K.
It seems like the Chinese producers are getting more ambitious with their pricing.
