Yuja unloading on a track from the forthcoming Michael Tilson Thomas collab. Brilliant. Fascinating - is that composed by Tilson Thomas? I didn't know he was branching into composition. It sounds perfectly matched to Wang's talents. EDIT: there's just a touch of Ginastera towards the end of the piece.

He's battling a difficult illness but working so creatively. www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/02/06/the-ageless-exuberance-of-michael-tilson-thomasI have the wonderful memory of being conducted by him as a choir member for Mahler 3 in France back in the late 70s.

New from Christina Pluhar but something tells me it won't be a firm favourite of MikeMusic

A countertenor suits the music rather well.

Two attractive looking piano releases today.
24 Preludes and more from Alice Sara Ott.
Schumann and Brahms from Benjamin Grosvenor.

Another attractive release from the busy Alice Sara Ott.
Martin, and others, might particularly enjoy the Satie here.

"Mercury the Winged Messenger ... He's got a flat tyre."
Dave is on tip top form here for this new recording of The Planets.

This is the Beethoven VC with a new recording from the young Spanish violinist, Maria Duenas, who is attracting a lot of attention at present. In 2021 she won first prize in the Menuhin, but is she ready to tackle the Beethoven at the age of just 20?
I note that she is appearing in a Spanish themed Prom this year, I might add that to my list and see what she is made of.

Right, I'm back in the saddle after a short break. Heads up MartinT! A new Respighi trilogy from the fabulous Robert Trevino who stunned both myself and Martin with his electric Mahler at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.
