Been wondering how easily my time is filled. Listening to music is a big part Projects ? Hah Getting through the day doing all I have to do is a victory I have projects I need contractors in for and hesitating on that Keeping an eye on 7 dogs takes a fair amount of time. 2 walks a day, 2 meals a day. Timing to make sure the outside toilet is used doesn't always work. They must also be contributing to the amount of dust we have, certainly the amount of dog hair that needs vacuuming increased when the latest 3 arrived I save time on regular things and still use it up Whatever brings you the most happiness, the greatest amount of satisfaction, and the maximum amount peace is the only way to go, Mike.

Next week is leaving speeches - because the teachers leave next Friday. Seems a bit odd to say goodbye to most staff when I won't be leaving until the end of August.

On the plus side, it does give you plenty of time to sabotage their lounge. A kipper down the back of a radiator is always a good one, especially as it probably won't have much effect until the heating is turned back on.

Next retirement travel destination for 2025, will be Namibia, Africa. Try to get to the Etosha Pan, it's a long drive North from Windhoek through the Namib Desert, but well worth it. You can take a detour to Swakopmund to see the seals and skeleton coast. Lots of shipwrecks to photograph. Fantastic country, absolutely loved it.

33 days to go. This week I enter my last month. I'm going to enjoy it - nothing can touch me now. What are they going to do, sack me?

Don't rush to " fill the gap" left by not having to get up at the crack of dawn, and commute to work. Take it as a challenge to see how late you can sleep in for the first couple of weeks. Chill.

Challenge accepted, but I'm not sure my body will comply at first. I'm always waking up just before the 05:00 alarm.

Recommend you let the time slide to where you want The key is same time to bed and same time up I extended my alarm clock time a few months back as the alarm woke me from sleep I now usually wake up before the alarm Up to an extra 20 minutes sleep Remember you then have to do an hours yoga

I have come to the conclusion that waking up, and getting up, are two completely different things. Pick up a book, read for a while and then the NEXT time you wake up you can consider rising.

I posted this earlier, which is relevant to my retiring. My successor is non-technical - big mistake. My predecessor was non-technical, too, and that was a shit-show. You'd think they might have learned? theaudiostandard.net/post/282517/thread

All a non-technical manager can do is to try to run the team with some sort of rigour and report back to the management above results that please them. This is where so often Emperor’s New Clothes plays out at the top of companies - where people doing the work can see the shit-show unfolding but senior management believe they are doing great. They realise later that everything has fallen apart so they sack the good technical people (it must be their fault). It’s hard to see how such a manager can have any grasp of the consequences of actions he/she puts in place.
