1. The boss's camera is now taking photos around 4-5Mb in size. Ok for linking in forums but too big for Freecycle and Hififorsale which prefers 1mb or smaller and keeps fouling up. Best way to pci size reduce please ? Answers on the net seem to be download packages or free software which I'm wary of.
2. The boss has yet again passed her camera out to no.1 son for at least a couple of weeks so I only have my old, dead cheap little Fuji which doesn't take great pics and usually insists on flash. Best cheap and/or 2nd hand camera to take photos ? Around the same quality as her Canon EOS500D 15.1 Megapixel Digital SLR, or at least get somewhere near. If I had a mobile phone .... maybe even one of them

In terms of the camera what do you call cheap Mike?
And what do you want to use it for apart from taking pics of kit to sell?
Do you want an SLR or something more compact?

Let's do this in a properly forum-like manner. Everybody ignores the post until I suggest looking at a used Canon Ixus of some stripe and then everyone piles in to tell Mike why I'm wrong. The Ixus is a serious recommendation, though.

Small is good, easy to use, good photos

Are you sure that the Fuji cannot be set to fire without the flash?

Are you sure that the Fuji cannot be set to fire without the flash? I read that as "set on fire..."

Are you sure that the Fuji cannot be set to fire without the flash? Have tried and failed. Someone competent might be able to do that.

Does it have a model number? It does. Has also changed manufacturer Olympus FE-120 (Fuji was the boss's original)

For reducing the image size, I would say the easiest thing would be to open the original and copy it by selecting the portion of the image you want, click 'File' > 'Save As' and save it with a different name. That will probably be exactly what you need, I would think.

Was hoping for the sort of feature I remember from Acrobat which I think was simply "Reduce file size". We were pushed to see a difference in quality.

I suggest this because it involves so few steps.

Thanks very much Jules. Do you have a favourite from these 3 and if so what does it for you ? The idea of a small camera becomes more appealing at those prices and size.

The photos I took of the RTZ were taken on the boss's phone and she reduced the quality to bring the file size down Even I can see they are not great. Hopefully they communicate
