Heads up MartinT & MikeMusic - new Christina Pluhar. Seems to be a blend of her take on traditional Latin American music and 17th century female composers.

Saint-Saëns: Danse Macabre + others, Fischer, Utah SO What a wonderful performance of the Danse Macabre this is, and beautifully recorded too. I though Hyperion were holding out against streaming but I'm glad they aren't. open.qobuz.com/track/249504680

There is no recording of Yuja playing the Barber Sonata but found this excellent performance from Marc-Andre Hamelin.

This is the first time listening to Kurt Weil for me and on the basis of "The Seven Deadly Sins" I will be listening to plenty more. I managed to find an absolutely sumptuous recording which is entirely compelling in every regard. Just love the composition and orchestration, oozing with colour and character. Fabulous vocal performances, with German soprano Anja Silja both beguiling and captivating. I would love to see it performed on the stage - another trip to Germany must surely beckon in this regard. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Deadly_Sins_(ballet_chant%C3%A9)

Ok now this is very cool indeed.
A Spanish pop / crossover cellist called Mabe Fratti. It actually has a really strong 80's vibe, reminds me of The Art of Noise, which isn't a bad thing at all.
The new album drops 28 June.

Mahler - Songs, Dame Janet Baker All are wonderful, but I always gravitate towards Ruckert-Lieder No. 4 (Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen) which is one of his greatest works. open.qobuz.com/track/8754945

Astonishing that Dame Janet retired over 40 years ago!

Check out this piece of gorgeousness from Osvaldo Golijov, the man providing the music for Francis Ford Coppola's new film, Megalopolis. Soprano Nora Fischer provides the beautiful voice.

How did you rate that recording Martin? Pretty good, Jules. An interesting mini-album, only 15 mins long.
