Did you listen to his Scriabin, Martin?

I didn't, but I'll give it a go. Haven't been able to lock into Scriabin yet.

The Poeme is one of my favourite works.
I often close my eyes with Scriabin and drift away into his world - it's truly transcendental music for me.

This Poulenc Stabat is absolutely epic!
The otherworldly atmosphere the singers create is remarkable, both in solo and in chorus. Totally compelling from start to finish this is a recording of some distinction.
I can't say too much about the "period instrument" backing from Les Siecles - my phone couldn't give my headphones enough juice to do it justice, especially with jet engines to contend with! It certainly wasn't lacking in impact though. Really need to buy that USB dongle.
I'm certainly adding this to my collection of Stabats.

Listening to the Poulenc now. Beautiful choir and very well combined ensemble forces with the choir really effectively layered.
I've just finished reading the booklet notes, which Qobuz are starting to add to albums and are readable in Bubble. The recording is closely mic'd, hugely dynamic and very powerful in the crescendi. In this respect, it has more impact than my favourite Lagrange / Baudo / Orch. Nat. de Lyon recording. I think I marginally prefer Lagrange in the soprano part, but she really is exceptional.
So that's two really excellent Stabat Maters.

Glad you like it - even in super low rez I thought it special.

Bach: Cello Suites - Alisa Weilerstein I'm playing this as it's this week's Weekly Album Club in Qobuz Club (wonder where they got that idea from?). It's Bach so I shall like it despite cello not being my preferred solo instrument. open.qobuz.com/track/219399292
