A mighty fine piano recital by Rudolf Serkin, live Carnegie Hall 1977 to celebrate his 75th birthday. Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert.

I've heard this one before and Dennis Russell Davies seems to have a special relationship with Glass.

Deep Field, by Eric Whitacre. Inspired by the iconic long exposures of "empty" space by the Hubble Space Telescope. Somehow, impossibly, the music has the grandeur of its inspiration. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubble_Deep_Field

Somehow, impossibly, the music has the grandeur of its inspiration. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubble_Deep_FieldI've long been an admirer of Eric Whitacre, mostly for his choral works, and I apologise for hijacking your choice Jerry, but I'm an inveterate nerd, so I tend to dig up background on stuff and automatically assume everyone else will be as interested as I am. Anyway, here are Whitacre's notes on the piece(s) And this is the film itself:

All well and good, but have you listened to it?

All well and good, but have you listened to it? Yes, and thoroughly enjoyed it thanks very much, Jerry. As I said, I really like a lot of his choral work. He's sort of the Ludovico Einaudi of vocals, a bit Marmite. What I call lush and beautiful the next person may call overblown and saccharine-soaked. The boy has talent though, and his Virtual Choir is pretty amazing. Have a listen to this if you'd like to hear the sort of thing I know him best for. "The Seal Lullaby" is a favourite of mine.

More Eric Whitacre. I've just found this via a combination of Amazon and YouTube. It made me smile. Is it classical? Who cares? I was surprised/not surprised to see Prince Andrew on the fiddle.

Really compelling performances of Baroque concertos by violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte with Les Ombres.

More Baroque beauties from Les Ombres, this time with Telemann's Quatuors Parisiens.

Bach - The Musical Offering I usually prefer this on organ but it's a gorgeous performance of Ricercar. Harpsichord suits me just fine so have saved this later ...

One of the choices from the NAXOS' Newsletter free downloads. The first track sold me and I grabbed the FLAC.
