Bruckner Mass #2 E minor. Herreweghe #1. I've got a number of Collegium Vocale Gent / Herreweghe recordings which hit the spot - how was this one?

Bruckner Mass #2 E minor. Herreweghe #1. I've got a number of Collegium Vocale Gent / Herreweghe recordings which hit the spot - how was this one? Very good, excellent actually. Possibly my favourite recording of this wonderful work. Vastly better than Herreweghe's recent over-speedy remake.

I've got the newer recording so that will be an interesting comparison.

I usually dislike concept albums like this. But the clarinettist Martin Frost's album Roots is a fun and engaging listen.

With Jorg Demus playing, suddenly Debussy's piano music makes enjoyable sense for me!

Some gorgeous music here from one of the best contemporary classical composers imo, Peteris Vasks

Anton Reicha? Never 'erd of the geezer before, but it turns out he was an extremely influential teacher and also ahead of his time in terms of compositional ideas. A thoroughly educational article - interlude.hk/anton-antoine-reicha/

Reicha's music is often wonderful - those string quartets are a case in point. Also his wind music, this series of a dozen or so albums is amazing.
And the Grande Symphonie on this album is magnificently Beethovenian in scale

For the 5th, I still love the Jansons/Oslo recording on Chandos.

Big surprise, I wasn't expecting John Cage's piano and organ music to be so enjoyable!

Jansons/Oslo? De-Russified Russian music - Yuck YMMV I don't even know which my favourite 5th is, as I have quite a number. I do remember being very fond of Klemperer on vinyl though.
