I realise that this view may be in the minority, but I do love the sound of the bagpipes.
This album is unusual and awesome. Coincidence by Peter Hamel.

That's a bit different. However, I lasted about 15s with the first track!

That's a bit different. However, I lasted about 15s with the first track! Hmm, yes. I find myself baffled by the general antipathy to the sound of the bagpipes. For me one of the most emotionally evocative and powerful musical sounds is that of a wailing saxophone - I can listen to great Baker Street covers pretty much indefinitely! And I find that bagpipes, well played on interesting material are similarly beguiling. However, I have come to accept that there are very few people of similar mind!

Brought to my attention by a recent Naxos newsletter, Mahler 7th conducted by Kirill Petrenko, the first release on the Bayerisches Staatsorchester's new label.
It's a good'un.

Tried this again, success this time.
There's a problem with the digital tracks, though, some of the track transitions aren't at all smooth.

I've only listened on headphones - is it a good recording Martin?
BIS normally very reliable of course.

It is, but it's an odd performance. I far prefer the version in the video you posted.

Agreed 100% but it's the only recording I could find on Spotify.

Michael Rabin, an excellent violinist from a previous generation.
I played the Mendelssohn and Paganini #1 concertos from this 4 CD set.

Some contemporary chamber music by Lepo Sumera. Quite engrossing.

Sumera again. 1st, 2nd and 3rd symphony - very much inspired by the tintinnabuli style of Arvo Part by the sound of it.

Wow, who knew? (Not me)
Bruckner 6th - Bernstein NYPO
It's not bad. Lennie was not the most natural Brucknerian, and the sq is not great. Happy to hear it once.
