Got that saved for later now Martin.
Don't think one can go wrong with Matsuev in this repertoire.

Have a listen to Ogdon in the slow movement, quite wonderful imo.
But yes, Matsuev is fab, too.

I've got too many Bach Violin Sonatas but Gramophone recommended the estimable Monica Huggett so thought I'd give this a spin.

Quite a fun organ concerto by Jon Leifs. A bit noisy and splashy for me in the outer movements. The other works on the album are nice and rather more relaxed!

I think I'm going to have to try that on the big rig. Sounds massive!

Martin to blame for getting me into this, very dramatic.

Leifs - Organ Concerto Jerry's recommendation is big and makes quite an entrance. Some very good moments. The usual excellent recording from BIS. open.qobuz.com/track/1847300

As per speedysteve, thanks for the heads up Despite the seemingly fearsome lineup of Webern, Schoenberg and Berg, it's all quite accessible, although personally I could do without the vocalist included by Schoenberg!

DG's latest thing seems to be trendy young transcription albums. Just trying ways to keep themselves solvent, I guess.
This one from the Signum saxophone quartet doesn't work too well imo.
The whole album is only 38 minutes so I don't know why they have to hurry so much in Max Richter's On the nature of daylight and Philip Glass's Mishima string quartet movement.
It's also too much of a mishmash of random movements for me. Pleasant enough, maybe aimed at the dinner party set.

Shostakovich - Symphony No 13, Jansons, BRSO open.qobuz.com/track/1022802I've not listened to the Jansons before. Lovely recording, very good performance. The bass drum in 'Fears' sets the right tone, the soloist is good, the choir have the gravitas required. It raises the hairs in the expected way and the orchestral peaks certainly inspire fear and terror. Almost up there with the Haitink.

Mahler 10 - Cooke completion. Dausgard. More impressed by this one than most.
