Two superb recordings there, the Holst and Respighi.
I remember my mum and dad had the Previn Holst back in the 70's and I always remembered it because of the cover!

Maybe you have to be French to play the Franck violin sonata. Dumay and Lortie are wonderful.

I'm not sure why this album is filed under classical, but the review in the classical magazine Fanfare put me on to it.
Very enjoyable in a light, folky way. Lots of intriguing solo instruments and a great recording.

Howard Skempton again. Can do without the songs on this album but the jazz infused piano concerto is excellent.

I think the key is jazz infused. It needs to be watered down a bit before I can tolerate jazz. But Beethoven invented boogie-woogie jazz back in the 1820s in his last piano sonata, opus 111.
