Yes, this is Over the Rainbow, but so beautifully played by two wonderful musicians, I find it very charming.

Mozart - Requiem I set out to find a new recording. This is quite different, not big and blousy but quite intimate. Terrific recording in 24/48. open.qobuz.com/track/3410105

How does it compare to the Dunedin Consort, Martin?
I think you have that recording too ...

The Dunedin is overall better, I think. The above is definitely worth a listen to but there is a section where castanets are briefly played. In the Mozart Requiem. Say, what?

I've not come across the Dunedin performance of the Mozart Requiem before, available on Spotify now that Linn have made most of their recordings available to the streaming services.
It's too fast for me, a bit too jolly... "Yay, the old bugger has snuffed it at last, what's he left me in his will?" I prefer a touch more stately gravitas befitting the sad passing of a friend.
Very well performed, though, and well recorded. I prefer Currentzis, but he's quite sprightly as well.
Bohm on DG used to be my favourite, but I've not listened in years, now that was stately and magisterial! Must give it an airing, I suspect I might find it too slow and portentous these days.

Oh my goodness, Bohm.
Wow. So much more powerful. No unsightly jolliness here, no rush to get back to the tea and sandwiches after the funeral.
The sheer terror of the Dies Irae. Whoosh. I love it still. Truly magnificent.

I shall listen to the Bohm later, not sure I ever have.
The Fruhbeck de Burgos remains my all-time favourite Requiem.

I think I have 3 or 4 Requiems in my collection - will have to try the Bohm as well.
Couple of years ago I went to a fabulous performance of it at Cadogan Hall with Jiggy Gardiner on the podium, it really has stuck in my mind.

Mozart Requiem - Bohm, VPO I have given this a full listen. With the exception of the Dies Irae section, it's just too slow for me (I have the same problem with his final Beethoven 9th). Admittedly it's old school scale, with huge forces, but it does drag on. I'll stick with the Fruhbeck which is simply magnificent in every way. open.qobuz.com/track/516758

Old fashioned grandeur, I find Bohm's approach totally appropriate to the music. I think it's the chorus that just sweeps me away, astonishing precision combined with deep commitment.
We all respond differently. I can't seem to get into the Burgos recording. It doesn't involve me much at all.
Ah well, thanks for trying!

This was a pleasant surprise.
Theodorakis, a cello and a guitar concerto.
I'll definitely be investigating more by this composer.

Ahh, I do love French music.
Well, this French music anyway!
Trio Concertante #1 & 2 and the violin sonata, in particular.

Bychkov's Brahms symphony cycle, marvellous. 2,3 & 4 on the trot, air conducting all the way.

This is just so incredibly sumptuous - Camille Thomas performing Gluck in the theatre at Versailles.

Valentina Lisitsa has quite the following on YouTube.
To be fair, she is a fearsomely good pianist.
