I really like that performance; nice pacey 1st mvt, as you said, but unlike too many period performances he has a slower, deeply emotional take on the slow funeral march mvt, and the finale is a real tour de force.

Can highly recommend this superb recording and performance on the audiophile Fone label with Salvatore Accardo doing his thing on the Stradivarius ...
I bought it on vinyl when first released.
