Ah, Jando - a much under-appreciated pianist. He has done some superb recordings of Mozart and Beethoven sonatas, for example, and those Mozart concertos are very fine, too, imo. Did you make it through the whole set? _____ LP --- I'm well on the way to collecting the whole set on LP CD -- disc 2 & 3 from this superb 4 CD set. A wonderful 2nd tier composer.

LP -- happily, after cleaning the LP is in good enough condition even for the quiet and eerie final mvt of the 6th. Excellent performance of the 6th and the Lark I can't be having with the operas, but these early symphonies are interesting. Quite Beethovenesque. CD

LP
-- I'm getting more into Brendel. This was quite impressive.
CD
-- 2 symphonies and a flute concerto type of piece. Very nice.

CD LP -- a fine performance (and recording) overall, but I do find Carol-Case a bit whiney for a bold sea captain.

CD -- transcriptions for baroque harp of major Bach works - violin sonata BWV1004 (with the chaconne), BWV 903 I've had this for a few years since hearing some of it at one of Tom's classical bake-offs. I feel I should like it - but every time I play it I just get bored. Be strong, jandl100! - it's now on the Sell pile. Ah, this is more like it .... CD

LP -- cool, calm & collected. CD -- really very fine chamber music from a composer much better known for his film scores. Tuneful but with a definite 20thC "edge".

CDs -- on original instruments, including pianoforte -- interesting! CDs -- I'm not usually a big fan of Tippett, but I like these.

CD -- part of a multi-CD box set, but I picked this up as an individual item on eBay. Harpsichordist Pieter-Jan Belder. quite probably my favourite player on the instrument - such life and vivacity, amazing sound he produces. And the sq is top notch. LP -- sorry about the small pic! Stravinsky early symphony Op. 1 - pure Russian romanticism, nothing like his later work! He composed it as a student in his early 20s. I like it!

LP -- not bad, for Bartok ;-) LP -- surprised how good this is - transcriptions for harp including the solo violin partita BWV1004 with the mighty chaconne! CD -- stunning.

Not usually a late-Heifetz fan, but these concertos work well for his later rather impersonal style .... CD and CD

I think it's one of the top Mahler 2s around, superbly tactile sq, too - there is a brusque earthy honesty to it and I much prefer it to his later DG remake.
