LP -- a very fine performance and recording, somewhat spoilt by a rather intrusive bass hum. CD

Wand's entire Bruckner cycle is superb. Ah, but which one? - I prefer his Bruckner from before he became 'famous' and got to play with the Big Orchestras like the Berlin Phil. NDR SO for me and that ilk for me!
His 8th recorded in Lubeck cathedral is awesome - he matched the interpretation to the (well recorded) reverb of the cathedral ...

I saw Wand many times at the RFH in London when I was at university there in the late 70's early 80's - a very fine conductor indeed.

Played the Khach VC twice this eve. Possibly my favourite violin concerto, although neither here is my 1st choice both are good.

Vasks - yum! Not heard those works. Good? The trio is so-so - interesting in places, but otherwise forgettable - but I really like the quartet.

CD LP -- the same recordings, on CD and LP. The LP sounds better. All are wonderful performances! And then #23 and #22 from ... CD Kempff is a great Mozart pianist, but so is Barenboim.

-- interesting interpretation of Schubert 9 to hear once, but it's now on my <for sale> pile! Can't say I'm surprised. His Beethoven 9 is horrible. They do say his Bachs worse than his bite. Tried to resist - but had to give in in the end.
