I'll have all these changes to put in, when I get my system up and running. I'm not the sort of person to add one piece at a time though.
Spruced up amp, modded LKS Dac, Project streamer, new BR pads, new SR Purple fuses, Hiface Evo/Clock in main system. Will be hard to know what each component does.
May go piece by piece, starting with the Dac.

Have just re-found a 1Tb Hard Drive I bought a year ago, and never got round to installing in my Mac.
Thinking of using it for the Project Streamer. Would it benefit from having my AQVOX PSU to power it?
And I go green!

If the AQVOX is linear, then yes. The fewer SMPS you have anywhere near your system, the better.

Bought some Hi Res albums last week. Want to see what the system can do when it's up and running.

I just changed my speaker cables to stripped out 2mm solid mains wiring. I did this because after moving my system so the electronics are between the speakers, my cables were many times too long and coiled about the place.
Does it sound any better ? NO. Does it sound any worse ? No. I am wondering if mains twin and earth is my future. Selling my cables sure would release some funds to buy lots of music.

My transformers have recently started to get noisy. Never noticed any humming since I ditched Naim but the other day it arrived like somebody had clicked their fingers. I don't know what is happening with the mains around here and what it could be to produce such a marked difference instantly. It coincides with the Internet getting very slow here. Probably just coincidence.
I have a balanced mains unit but I haven't used it in ages because I felt it sat on the music. My system is minimalist, if it gets anymore minimalist then we will be playing the music ourselves. Anyway, I thought I would reintroduce the balanced mains to see if it had an effect. It had an effect alright. But not in a good way.
I was playing a CD - Pat Methney Group, We live here. This is a very hot recording and a bit too in your face for my liking even at the best of times. After putting the mains unit in the music became unbearably shrill, some of the solo's which are emphasised on this album took off like a crying child. I had to put another cd on before my head turned to mush. Same thing happened.
Took the mains unit out and things calmed down. I haven't a clue what is going on. Usually I feel the mains unit is sitting on the music but this time it was soaring like a child that has been allowed to drink too much Red Bull.

DC on the mains is the usual suspect for transformer hum. It's also worth checking that they're still sitting on rubber isolation as all good builds provide. If not, that may help.

DC is the main reason people give for this. But I was shocked how the transformers were silent over the last year uf not more then one day it's like a swarm of bees. And bmu makes the music take off.
My EI transformers aren't even bolted down at the moment but it's never been a problem.

Hold on When in serious upgrading I worked from the front of the system, CD then Amps mains cables and eventually came to a stop. Belles Pre and power amps should have sounded better but they didn't Speaker cable and speakers were stopping the improvements being heard. Put in Montans and Coherent speaker cable and the difference was plain

Should definitely sound better than T&E.

Should definitely sound better than T&E. Yeah, LS6 but way too long for what I need now. I only need 1.5 metres and my cables are 5 metres. I don't know what is going on with me at the moment. I seem to be on a crash course to cheapness to prove a point. The LS6 was a major upgrade on what I had earlier. Maybe with the much shorter cabling it is off setting the length of LS6. Less capacitance and resistance can only be good, right ? Looks like I might have to butcher my LS6 at some point but that is a bit scary. All those conductors to re terminate once the cables have been shortened.

I have one plug spare in my Eichmann power board (with Mad Scientist Nitro Nano power cable hard wired to it). In the power board I have an iFi iPurifier and an Akiko Audio Triple AC Enhancer, as well as the LKS Dac and power supplies for the M2Tech Evo 2 and Evo Clock. What to put in the last plug on the board?

I currently have one grounding box, an SGS-1.
Will look for a second in the new year.

A bit of a bump in the road.
Have already borrowed from Peter to pay Paul.
My amp is away getting recapped. The bill today was way higher than I'd expected.
Ah well. Put a few things on hold then. Peter's skint.
