Oh yeeeesssss!! We were so unlucky not to win in 90 mins ... How that Columbian geezer didn't get a red card for violent conduct I will never know.

There are quite a few of these "doing the rounds" of social media at the moment.

As latter-day Victorian, Jacob Rees-Mogg might phrase it, "We are hopeful that English association football may take another step towards returning to its designated domicile from three O'clock this p.m."

Further to my previous missive, it is now my huge pleasure to report with some degree of certainty that the entity that is known as 'association football' will shortly be returning to its more familiar and pre-ordained national domicile in England.

Magnificent.
I was worried that I would be a pensioner by the time we had a decent England team ...

Magnificent. I was worried that I would be a pensioner by the time we had a decent England team ... Take heart young man I never expected to see a Brit win the TdF. A British cycling team let alone one worth anything was about as likely. Seem to have sorted that quite well

We were fine when teams were backing off of us. When we were "allowed" to boss the game we did. When we were put under constant pressure we folded, twice. There was no plan B, no real leaders, and therefore no World Cup; not even third place.
On a positive note, we have many more good young players coming through the ranks. We've won the Toulon tournament, which is pretty much the U21 World Cup, three years in a row. We also won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, were runners-up at the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship (we lost to Spain in the final on a penalty shoot-out) and semi-finalists in 2018 (losing in another penalty shoot-out, to The Netherlands this time). So, there's hope for the future and roll on 2022, or maybe even the Euros, in 2020.

Given the rampant success of GB and Sky cycling, with minimal funding compared to football, why don't they have a word ?

Not much of a football fan but do like watching some of the England games at the World Cup and Euros. From what I saw and understand, we did very well this year and think we should be proud of our achievements.
