Reminds me of how frequent bughead used to update It was hard to keep up with it. Must admit I am liking my latest config. A bit more body and depth

That's great, John. I thought I've never heard it sound better today, too.

Nice and easy in-situ update, a quick listen to Rachel Podger, all seems to be working fine.
More serious listen tomorrow.

That's interesting, I found 1.025 to have fixed Qobuz single track playback. Very annoying, that bug was.

Now, this is just downright unfriendly. I tried updating to the latest 1.029 and got this message back...

Actually, I disagree and think it's a good warning. Many of us complained that our config.txt tweaks were lost on the update. Now you can leave it alone (as I do for minor updates that don't benefit me) or clear your user data.
I'm running 1.029 here with no problems.

Trust me, when you've customised Volumio as much as I have it's a pain in the backside. Not only does it wipe the config.txt which we knew about and for which I have a backup ready to c&p via WinSCP as a workaround but it also deletes my custom background and a couple of customised icon files. Added to that, Volumio has to reacquire almost 7000 albums (1.31 TB) from my NAS, and that's all after I've had to set Volumio up from scratch.

Yes, I see your point. My NAS takes only a few seconds as I'm not a file merchant. I do as you do, edit my config.txt mods into the build from a file I keep after I burn the SD card. Sorry about the rest.
Because updating hasn't worked for me for a while (now I know why), I'm used to re-burning the SD card. As I say, Volumio is very mature now and I don't bother with every intermediate update.

Once I've completely rebuilt my custom Volunio (Stupidly I forgot to keep copies of the custom icons) I'll make a backup folder to hold all of my tweaks and try taking them out of the live system one at a time when I attempt the next update. If I can only save the time it takes to reacquire the data from my NAS it'll be worth the effort.

Update 1.102 is out. - Aligned UI with master
- Several Tweaks to QOBUZ and TIDAL
Here's an odd little thingy. I've got four files in the same directory, Numbers 1, 2, & 4 show the correct playing time in Volumio but 3 is wildly wide of the mark at 117m 52s instead of 29m 57s. If I right-click on the file itself to bring up the properties in Windows both "Audio Properties" and "Details" show the correct play time. If I open the file in Foobar it shows the correct play time. Both Windows media player and Ace Media Player show the correct play time. Where the Hell is Volumio getting 117m 52s from? It doesn't even match the sum of the files in the directory, which was my first (and last) outside-the-box thought. My NAS (and Windows itself) report the same, correct, file size. It's not really a problem, I know, but it's making me wonder how many other files are being misreported by Volumio.
[EDIT] Convert file to WAV Convert file back to FLAC Problem solved. Still confused.

I've sorted the update "problem" by simply replacing my custom config.txt with the basic model, performing the update, and then replacing the config.txt with my new version again.
For reference, this is my basic config.txt...
initramfs volumio.initrd gpu_mem=16 max_usb_current=1 dtparam=audio=on audio_pwm_mode=2
dtparam=i2c_arm=on initramfs volumio.initrd gpu_mem=16 max_usb_current=1 dtparam=audio=on audio_pwm_mode=2 dtparam=i2c_arm=on disable_splash=1 hdmi_force_hotplug=1
#### Volumio i2s setting below: do not alter #### dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi Your "dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi " line may be different if you're using a different device then I am, but otherwise you should be able to c&p this and keep a copy handy to save much buggering about when updating in future.

Thanks, Paul. I'll give that a try. I would have thought I could save it in the Pi as config_original.txt and then copy it back when necessary?

Exactly what I've done, Martin, except I've got two files - oldconfig.txt and newconfig.txt

I'll be ignoring that one too, as I don't use either streaming service.
