No award from me this evening! Qobuz is just missing from Volumio. Can't figure out how to get it back. Logged in, source set up, signed in etc. ☹️ Update, just Volumio being an arse! Inspite of it showing me logged in on Qobuz and with the right Volumio sub, refused to work. It's worked fine for months. Log out of Qobuz and back in and it's there again.🙄👍

Like to see it reviewed by ASR. The ES9038 is subject to intermodulation distortion the ‘ESS Hump’. Numerous DAC’s in this price competitive space. Primo should navigate the full spectrum workbench gauntlet. I say this as Volumio has a lot on their plate in just engineering a software package that is robust in its operation let alone a high level streamer/DAC.

I've been playing music fine, Steve. What time was this?
The Primo winning the award is testament to the sound quality achievable from the Asus Tinker Board S, which is featured inside the Primo.

Like to see it reviewed by ASR. I'll pass on the opinions of a bunch of measurement objectivists who don't appear to listen to the equipment at all. My ears tell me that the ES9038 chipset is staggeringly good on detail and musical insight, quite the best DAC I have yet heard.

MartinT, I know there are a lot of audiophile’s whom have a hard-on for ASR. Do check Amir’s private sound set-up. Would not appear his ears are painted on. His workbench approach is a likely result of this. I get your point, it’s all about the sound, but audio components are not cheap and no one wants to make a mistake. Reviews from the workbench provide additional confirmation for equipment purchasers. Just my opinion.

I understand and have no intrinsic objection to measurements, in fact I'm an engineer myself.
However, there have been too many instances of Amir and crew completely slating a product that either they don't understand or have not implemented measurements to match what can be easily heard.
One example: the Uptone EtherREGEN can give laughably clear and obvious sound quality improvements as soon as you hear one in circuit. Amir slated it as 'doing nothing'. That, to me, dismisses him as a credible source of information. Just my opinion, but I won't be using his views on anything I choose to purchase in the future.

Wow, I had not seen that review. Ouch I’m a straight wire guy with wifi, so I have no idea. As has been said, sound is in the ear of the beholder

If you haven't updated to 2.806, don't do it. Several bugs have appeared that make it maddening to use. I've reported them on the Volumio forum but their lack of response is worrying.
Issues are with Last 100 and playing anything from a Qobuz playlist.

If you haven't updated to 2.806, don't do it. ... I'm still on 2.799 and Volumio is still telling me that's the latest version for the PC, and looking at the download page that's correct. Every other format has 2.806 avialable for it. Looks like I dodged a bullet by trying out Volumio on my MSI Cubi.

v2.811 now available. I'm applying it in the hope that it fixes the bugs, although there is no mention of them. Again, no changelog. What's happening over at Volumio?

Meltdown in Qobuz and Volumio this evening. Was working fine then All playlists empty and error displayed on exiting a playlist in the app. That was not the song I was playing by the way either. Meanwhile Volumio was having a fit with flickering screen for ages unable to access any menu or play. The flickering stopped and I could open a playlist. Trying to play something just set it off again! Starting the browser again it was just the same. Want to shutdown but can't access settings! After ages, the app is back working again. Volumio stable enough to get to settings and shutdown. Will let it cool off for a day 🙂
