Those sound useful, I'm going to have to burn another SD card. No matter what I do, I can NEVER upgrade once I've messed with the config.txt file.

I never seem to have any problems using WinSCP these days. - Open Volumio in WinSCP
- Delete existing config.txt
- Drag a copy of old config text to Volumio.
- Close WinSCP
- Update Volumio.
- Open Volumio in WinSCP
- Delete existing config.txt
- Drag a copy of new config text to Volumio.
- Close WinSCP
- Restart Volumio
- Robert is your father's brother.
You keep everything in the cloud though, to make life easier, don't you, Martin?  |

It isn't that - it seems to have detected that I messed with config.txt (even though I restore the original) and goes through the update but doesn't. I do in PuTTY exactly what you do in WinSCP.  |

FYI I upgraded to v2.555 in situ a few days ago without issue.... HOWEVER, I do not have any modifications beyond plain vanilla apart from using the spotify plugins and having a SMB share to my "pseudo-NAS" mounted.
It all seems to work as before... However, I have not used it a great deal

I have/had a few plug-ins, no other changes. It didn't work for me and a new download and burn was the only option.
At least I can get it to work first time...unlike MoOde which can't see my NAS drive!

The inconvenience is minor. I rotate two SD cards and can put a new one in and have it setup in 20 mins. No farting around with wi-fi helps.

I just updated OTA and it appears to work I have your less serious RPi settings Martin - perhaps that's not the issue though. How to update the newly released Spotify connect plugin? Uninstalling progresses to 100% done but then fails with "an error occurred" - so helpful What should I be doing? |

There are some instructions on GitHub for installing the plug-in manually. You have to use PuTTY to unzip the file and install it outside of Volumio.
I may have copied the instructions here somewhere.

Not done the update yet.
It worked fine for a while, then the queue problem returned and then Volumio would not show up in Spotify.
Time to reach for spare SD card..
It's run for ages without intervention until now.

I'll wait for a proper fix in the plug-in that comes with the OS. Meanwhile, I'm quite happy using Volumio's own Spotify search and, of course, I have my playlists showing now due to the index.js fix. |

Volumio stops playing. How to play continuously please.
What I've done so far :
Looked for update. Yes, required.
Must have an @ in my username. Previously mikemusic.
Try my email
Not recognised
Reregister.
Back in, try to update
Freezes.
Close Chrome, reboot PC.
Part way through update, Pi battery needs some juice.
Apply juice
Update now works
Playing items from YouTube, still cuts out after a few minutes
Thoughts please

Stops in YouTube? Strange. Sounds like an unstable update, dodgy power or noise. When it stops does the play counter stop, i.e. does it look like it expected to stop or does the counter go on?

I'm not on the Volumio window when it stops, usually some way short of the running time. Looks as if Volumio finished. My next test was to play Chris Rea - Road to hell complete album Note : I left the room asking the boss to note when it stopped Played the whole album ! |

Hah! So is this using Spotify Connect rather than Volumio?
If so, and you are sharing the Spotify account with someone else, it happens when they play something as it will only allow an account to play in one place at a time.

I have upgraded automagically to v2.565 of Volumio as shown below. Seems to work.... Not sure which version of spotifyConnect2 it came with... I was already on 0.9.0 (12th March) via a harmless manual update as per the instructions.

Looks like a good fix set. I feel myself burning a new SD card.
Meanwhile, I'm getting to grips with Qobuz playlists so I won't bother making Volumio ones.
