Dinner should prove "interesting" tonight. I'm cooking vegan ribs which I shall have with some potato wedges and a few baked beans.

For a moment I thought you'd got them from a real vegan!

Vegan Ribs. And there I was thinking you were 'bantering' us Paul! So how were they??

The vegan ribs were... not the worst thing I've ever eaten. No, seriously, the texture of the rib sauce was spot on, thick and sticky, but there's no way you can make plant fibre "feel" like meat. Flavour wise it was a bit like the mildest chilli I've ever tasted. I'd have it again, but I'd add a bit of chill powder I think.

Have you heard of US plant based food firm Beyond Meat? Their valuation is over a billion dollars … staggering.
Supposedly they get the meat texture very close to what it should be …

It doesn't look like they've made much impact over here, and at their prices I'm not exactly shocked. Tesco carry one product - " Beyond Sausage" - which weighs in at 200g, contains 2 sausages, and costs a fiver.

Much better to make your own.. Some of the processed plant based food is pretty much as bad for you as the trad crap processed food. Won't have Sodium Nitrate and Nitrite like processed meats, but they still do things that are not whole food by a long stretch. Fine for the odd BBQ, but not everyday food.

Processed is ok in it's place, preferably a minor one. I'm adding more and more fruit and veg as well as nuts and other
Vegan is a money making fashion currently - as well as being a healthy option !

Yes they are about the same in terms of calories and saturated fat content plus even more salt. I'd just like to try one out of interest.

I've eaten beyondmeat burgers a couple of times at The Castle in Holland Park though I think they're off the menu now. They are rather good, not as satisfying as meat but I don't feel yuk after eating one either. Texture is good and with vegan (or non-vegan) cheese etc I quite like them. They do seem to be full processed stuff so not for everyday.

Still feeling it for the plant based diet. Six weeks in. My guilty pleasure is Alpro Soya milk Professional in my Cappuccino. It lets the coffee flavoured though more than cows milk! I was trying Oat-lyi barista but that actually got some quite nasties in it. The way they heavily process the oats to make a sugar and Rapeseed oil for instance..
Resting pulse now at 46! That's what it was when I was 20 something and playing county level badminton!
If this carriers on, I'll be dead soon 😂
Arthritic toe doesn't hurt, but I'm not getting full range of movement under own power yet.. I'm swinging more dumbell weight and a tougher 15kg Theraband flexi-bar for my tennis arms. 🎾
At the moment I'm drinking water and 2 barista cappuccino's a day. I make my own sunflower seed milk for my breakfast cereal (home made). I'm considering the odd alcohol free beer - any recommendations?

Also Erdinger is fab - it's isotonic innit so must be good for you LOL.
