My vote goes to Wonder Woman. Over promised, but under delivered. The acting by the main character was devoid of any acting skills. And basing it around WWII made it even worse.

My visits to the cinema this year have all been quite positive, although Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 was quite a disappointment after the first - not only the film, but the soundtrack too (which is a big part of the movie!).

I haven't seen a single new movie in 2017. I don't even think I could name one.

I watch when they come to TV so my recent horrors were older than 2017. We have turned some off part way through now. Always used to persist. Tried Gibson's Apocalypto recently - appalling

I don't go and watch rubbish films at the cinema, it's too expensive. Many 2017 films haven't come to Sky yet, so there's not much to criticise. I'd rather stand in a wardrobe than see a Marvel film, so none of that nonsense. Scanning the list of films, it would have to be Fifty Shades Darker, which even the lovely Dakota Johnson could not save from tedium.

My movie viewing is done entirely at home so, again, does not include the latest of the latest releases, nor does it include very much that I haven't read about previously. I think I can honestly say I haven't seen a truly 'bad' film this year, but the most disappointing, by a long distance, was Berberian Sound Studio. I try not to read actual reviews and rather attempt to get a feel for a film before buying it, Everything I saw about Berberian... was positive. I'm still trying to work out why. I'm not one to baulk at the process of trying to 'understand' not only what I'm seeing but what the director wants me to see. Berberian... reminded me more of a series of cut ups. Toby Jones, a terrific actor, was hugely underused. I've since come to the conclusion that it was a film for reviewers rather than audiences and we were supposed to applaud how clever Peter Strickland, the director, was being. I'd have spent my time better had I (re)watched an actual Giallo movie, to which I am no stranger and the genre of which was the setting for Berberian...

Fifty Shades Darker . . . I lasted about 10/15 minutes before I walked out of that one - shockingly bad. Not sure what the worst film was, nominations would be Justice League, Geostorm, Snatched, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Great Wall, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Suburbicon - all are worthy of being right at the bottom of the barrel along with Fifty Shades Darker.Biggest disappointment of the year for me was Alien: Covenant, probably not the absolute worst film of the year, but certainly not much better than the above list. It promised so much and failed to deliver. But I reckon I'll go with Snatched cos' I can't abide Amy Schumer.

So how do you decide what’s rubbish before paying to see it? I was thinking the same myself actually? I was surprised by some films this year, like Raw and Toni Erdmann - both really superb films I might have missed by pre-judging them, but then I have an Unlimited card so I don't mind walking out if they're rubbish. But I've an open enough mind to at least try before deciding/declaring them no good. I even sometimes go and see a film twice I didn't like, if others really rate it, just in case I got it wrong the first time #filmnerd

I'm not infallible (thus Fifty Shades) but I usually have a good idea of whether I'm going to like a film or not, from the writer, director and actors. Cinema is just too expensive to waste on dreck.

It strikes me when reading this post just the quantity of duds that get released every year. And will no doubt be released this year. To steal an analogy I've heard before it's possibly like the difference between taking the time to fish with a rod, for whatever merits you may feel that method of fishing has to offer over just throwing a stick of dynamite in the water and hoping a handful of fish that float to the top may still be edible. It is a machine here. Of course many indie projects are released too, free to some degree of money pressuring every single decision made during creating the film, but they are harder to notice because they aren't shoved in your face the way the formulaic output is.

The sheer volume of films and TV series must employ a sizeable population. Much like any business there are people banging them out as quick as they can. Quality ? Hah
When you see the list at the end of film and TV series going on for so long it is a huge industry. Make money or artistic integrity.......

I'm sure many an integrity has been dashed on the rocks of the studios.
It needs a strong writer, good director and the ability to hold the studios back from their worst desires to satisfy the greatest number of people (which always ends up with bland dross). Good actors generally respond well to good writing. We know it can be done because of the great series we've been talking about here, but there are a great many more worthless series, too.

I know it's from 2016 but I tried to watch Assassins Creed tonight. Don't know why I bothered, I lasted 15 minutes. Dreck.

Well I reckon it might be Cats, but for me at the moment it's Wolf
I'm not alone either, I think a score of 1.9 on IMDB is the lowest I've ever seen. Cats will have to go some to beat that!
