Q.I. Have I Got News For You . The Big Bang Theory Agree with those. One of the funniest comedies ever created was Coupling.

Coupling was great. I liked Game On and Gimme Gimme Gimme was in brilliant bad taste, both just before Coupling if I remember correctly. For a short while the British sit-com seemed to be in good health again...until it keeled over and died in the 2000/2010s. 'Still Open All Hours' and the remade 'Porridge' are perfect examples of everything that's wrong with TV comedy today. There's still the odd gem to be winkled out but what passes for comedy on TV these days is mostly dross.

Don't know most of them Inbetweeners, Father Ted and Green Wing were hilarious. which reminds me Scrotal Recall was great, now renamed as Lovesick and on a paid for channel.

I agree with Inbetweeners but the films were a bit of a let down after the excellent series

Never watched Big Bang, but I do like all the others mentioned.
My real faves though are:
Father Ted I'm Alan Partridge An Idiot Abroad Extras Fawlty Towers Swiss Toni
Not many I hate, but anything with Russell Brand or Michael McInytre in it would have me punching the screen.

Funny and true. Cushions belong in the "Pointless" thread IMO.

Tell you all what I find REALLY funny is when TV gets the puss ripped right out of it. There's some classic examples like when the current affairs program tried to pin down the Sunday Sport about the rot they print and were totally set up. Great stuff.
Or when the police weren't very media savvy.... Mersey Blues. Hard to find as all the cops in it were crooked as fork. Super.

Bugger! I forgot all about that. iPlayer here I come. I spent New Year's Eve watching all six episodes of the 2 nd series of The Detectorists, which BBC4 showed back to back. I'd seen a few bits of series one but I'm now a confirmed fan.

Well, that was a load of cobblers! I rather enjoyed it. What a great sport Sir Derek Jacobi was. I cracked up when they got to the 'green screen' bit.
