I've got an iPad, and an iPad Mini, both bought used. No way would I pay full price for Apple kit. The Mini I use daily, and the iPad (6th Gen) was bought for the sole purpose of running apps for some of my guitar pedals, my Audiolab 6000N, and my (Cambridge Melomania, not Apple) wireless earbuds. That one sits permanently plugged in to a Belkin dock on my desk and is currently updating to iPad OS 17.1.2.
I've had no problems with either, but as I say, I'd never pay full price for anything Apple.

Don't get me started on "could of..." etc. I saw a "new" one today, and it's equally as annoying as the ever-popular " alot" instead of a lot. Somebody actually wrote - deliberately I hasten to add - " aswel" instead of as well, a-s-w-e-l. She couldn't even combine the two words using their correct fekkin spellings. I've just looked at Google, and there are actually people asking questions like " Is it “aswell” or “as well”?" and " Which Is Correct—“Alot,” “A Lot,” or “Allot”?". Does anyone remember when liberal educators declared that less importance should be placed upon spelling in schools, and exams weighted more towards the pupil's ability to " convey" what they were thinking? Well, it was bollocks then, and it's bollocks now.

Took me by surprise to hear Americans using the word TV series and films Quite a few English slang words seem to have become common in the US
Not heard American use of "Fanny" recently Was staggered to hear
"Pat her on the fanny"
in an American film many years ago.

I could have written the script, knowing the way my luck runs. £300.00 on a new phone, which hasn't even arrived yet, and today my TV conks out. After a bit of internetting it looks very much like a power fault according to them what knows these things, and checking the LG LED blink codes.
I've tried all of the basic fixes and I'm down to suggestions on changing capacitors if I can find the blown one (like that's going to happen) or swapping out the "the T-Con board" which is even less likely to happen.
Not a happy bunny.

Sorry to hear it Paul. Hopefully this thing comes in asap, like this week.
Where are you at with that HP Lovecraft collection?
If that just earned me an ass-kicking I understand.

Paul, it's definitely worth an internal visual inspection as power supply caps tend to blow their tops, literally. If you can spot that, we can plan a repair.
I guess the TV is out of warranty?

Nah, it's probably the best part of 10 years old, so I've sort of been expecting it. As you probably know, when one component fails in an old TV it's quite common for the problem to cascade, so I'll just take it out the back and shoot it rather than spend ages taking it apart, trying to find the fault, and putting it back together again to get what might be another week or two out of it. Sadly, I won't be able top afford another LG, so it looks like it'll be in TCL/Hisense territory. The other stupid thing restricting my choices, is the stand. My TV "unit" can only accommodate a 91cm max gap between the "legs" of the stand, and it's incredible the amount TVs that are either wider than that, or don't give the measurement in the specs, and no, it definitely can't be wall-mounted. I also want a QLED build. I put a stupid bid in last night but unless the seller gets back to me before midnight tonight I lose the current 5x Nectar points, which would help me claw a little of the outlay back. Sadly, it's far from " Ooooh, that one looks nice. I'll have that one."

TBH, I haven't even thought about restarting Lovecraft. I've got so much to read it's "somewhere" in the queue is the best I can say.

It's worth looking at previous year LG TV's - I saw one for half price the other week and was so tempted ...

The telly's here and partially hooked up. I'm too knackered to go crawling around and connect it to the AV system tonight, but it's working quite happily. Fortunately it was only a smidge over 14 Kilos so I was able to hump it about by myself. Getting rid of the old set though, what a palaver that's been. County Council won't collect, District Council won't collect, one of them recommended a company who wanted to charge me £40.00 for the " call out" let alone handling and disposal. I finally cajoled a local firm who deal with IT mostly to drop round tomorrow and take it away for £20.00. I played the " frail old pensioner" card. I must remember to be using my stick when I open the door to them.

When I went to pull the 33kg P10 regenerator off the system rack I nearly came over all unnecessary. That is very close to my limit and only for short bursts.
