You need to try the BR on the phonstage too

Stability
I'm really enjoying my system as it is. There is a period of enforced stability as I'm making no further changes due to a looming house move. Therefore, this is pretty much the last iteration of my system in its current listening room.
If I can rebuild it to achieve this level of playback in a new location I'll be very pleased indeed, I know how a new listening room can be pretty much pot luck acoustically (although I'm looking for a new house with this in mind).

Sounds best to me. A good time to leave alone, play music you know well then play it again in the new room

As I can testify a room change can bring it's challenges. I'd stay with a more conventional room shape for your speakers if you can... Similar shape but a little more volumous and it should be nicely spectacular. Will use that Chord beast amp a little more I suspect.

Thanks, Steve. Don't have the Chord any more, the new beast is a Belles (see my avatar)!

My house is now on the market. I'm looking at new houses with a view to suitable listening rooms. I've told Ruth the rest of the house is hers, seems like a fair deal to me! I have a feeling this is going to be a long ordeal. When has a house move ever been easy, especially when selling two?

Look for 3 rooms. Listening, office and workshop. Ruth can certainly have the rest. Maybe you will be allowed to sleep in the bedroom Can be and ordeal or not. I surprise myself at how easy it was to sell the last place and how calm I was - perhaps as I was busy at work Practise selling to viewers, think about the plus points you have. Vet them as politely as you can, some are just on a day out with no serious intentions

Listening room is my focus. There will always be a study as we will buy more bedrooms than we need. As for workshop, that's the garage. I certainly don't put cars in them!

It's nice to have cars in the garage. Very few of us manage it though. My car is currently half in our open barn type garage with stuff in the other half Logically we have more rooms than we need yet we seem to need more We need to get rid of a load of stuff and do away with the name and share uses for rooms. Are you having much of a clear out of stuff ?

Massive. We've made half a dozen journeys to the dump with both cars. I still need a skip for the garage.

Wow. Remember Freecycle, Freegle and Streetlife to give stuff away

The dump have a sales section. They got my son's full drum kit, which he no longer wanted.

That sounds a great idea.
What happens ? You give it to the dump and they sell it ?
How is Ebay for selling drum kits ?

Yes, proceeds go to the council. Handy when you don't have time for freecycle etc.

Assume that's Hampshire. Fairly sure Surrey don't do it
A simple, great idea

Tried the RDC4 cones against the BRs under the P10 tonight. I'm hard pressed to hear the difference. Will try again and also on the Isis as your AYre did so well Tried the BRs against the RDC4s again with the boss, under the Isis. BRs had been in place for a couple of weeks The BRs might be slightly better. *Very* difficult to tell them apart

It's been a month for speaker cables. First the NVA TSCS, a superb cable that does things in the midrange to bring up the presence region without being in any way harsh. Detailed, dynamic and overall very impressive. Very good value for money, too.
Now I have another cable, an upgrade to my Coherent 6D cables from our TonyC . He's been working behind the scenes to deliver me the '6D+' (my name, he hasn't given it a moniker yet). I have absolutely no details on materials although the construction looks similar to the 6D. The improvements are in the same area as the TSCS with startling clarity in the midrange, energy, dynamics, detail all improved. The superb bass performance remains. He thinks my Ushers are slightly recessed in the midrange and the two cables are addressing exactly the right area for my system, benefitting from the Usher's excellent beryllium midrange driver.
As I said to him last night, he has made my Ushers sound more Usher-y!
