Keep thinking we must be close to the limit and then along comes something to smash through and take it to different levels.
Reminds me of Moore's Law - at least a bit

I've left the Yannis 222.5 ConnectLitz interconnects on burn-in for another day (on MTV from Sky - well, it has a use after all). They are settling down, still not quite the depth of stage and air of the Coherent 6D interconnects, but the detail and lack of harshness is there. I've always found that silver cables take more burn-in time than copper.

Interesting. I haven't bothered to burn in before now. Probably will in future

Avatar replaced to reflect my new amp End of an era! 42 hours of burn-in has got the Yannis interconnects sounding pretty good. Can't wait for my proper cables tonight so that I can 'plumb' them in properly and get rid of the unsightly cables draped around the front of the speakers. Then I guess there will be more burn-in! Played the Damien Rice - 'O' album again last night, this is rapidly becoming my go-to reference to check that any changes made haven't taken a bad turn.

Not sure how we will be able to cope with that new avatar. Will always have to double take to work out who it is

I wonder why Martin only ever photographs the left hand side of an amplifier? Is the right hand side where you put your SpongeBob SquarePants sticker?

I was only taught to photograph the left side of things. It's time to come clean about the miniscule size of your listening room Martin. Admit it, you just can't get far enough away from the amp to get it all in the viewfinder. Those 'speakers' of yours are just cardboard cutouts with an LS3/5a behind each one!

Says he with the suspiciously clandestine upper baffle shade on his avatar! Well Chris I could tell you.........but then I would have to................force you to listen to a full DBL 6 pack active system headed by an LP12 and that is they say is sufficient punishment for any clandestine subversive

I now have my Belles and Coherent speaker cables all installed. I was most impressed that the Belles - stone cold new out of the sealed box - sounded so good even before warm-up. Also my brain was confused as the power LED on this one is green rather than blue!
Tony recommends around 500 hours on the amp and cables to fully settle to peak performance. Oh no, I'll have to play some more music!

The new one sounded immediately as good, cold, as the loaner when fully warmed up. By late last night, it was sounding better. Tony said that the reservoir caps in the loaner were pretty old now, and there have been some other updates, too. It also lasts a lot longer after the power has been switched off (no speaker relays), about 15s or so. Great power reserve!

I like to switch the big ML amp off while the music is still playing too - it goes on for bloody ages! The 50 watter...not nearly as long.
