Hello mrsdoc and welcome to TAS. There is no need to thank us, we simply have no political agenda and no bias against your husband's company or any other.

Hello mrsdoc and welcome to TAS. There is no need to thank us, we simply have no political agenda and no bias against your husband's company or any other. You only refer to his company, it would be even better if this impartiality and lack of bias was extended to him as well.

Sorry but I won't rise to that. It's all in the past and well documented here. Unlike some forums, we don't delete posts to rewrite history.

The announcement that was made this morning says the following: However, we do ban members who repeatedly break our rules.

Evening Mrsdoc and welcome.
Can I ask: What's it like then? What's it like living with such a horrid, horrid man, as some see him as?

Sorry Mrsdoc. My message wasn't intended in the way you think. It was intended humorously.
"Some", not everyone, see Richard as a kind of bogeyman figure. I don't quite understand it myself. I just thought you could give some balance. Give a view that never gets the chance to be seen. That was all.

I was thinking that Mrsdoc departure was solely down to what I said. Apparently not, however.
I hope she might change her mind.

Still a pretty insensitive reply, even if it was intended as humourous. That was never going to go down well.
And for what it's worth I didn't read it as humourous when I saw it, quite the opposite in fact.

Obviously you weren't inside my head when I constructed my posting. Your comment is based upon your own view of the word "Horrid", or so it would seem. For you it would appear to be taken literally, for me, I always view it with some humour attached. If I really wanted to make genuinely derogatory comment about Richard D, I would have used an alternative; plenty to choose from. I've never had any dealings with Mr Dunn, but I thought I should apologize for how my comment appeared, and it was accepted. In truth, the intended humour wasn't apparent to Mrsdoc, either, but her leaving was in response to comments made before mine. This, and other events, does have me thinking if forums are really worth the bother.

And therein lies the problem with a bunch of strangers writing stuff down and expecting to be understood immediately. That's why they invented smileys/emoticons.

Yes, Mr S. That's EXACTLY the problem.
I never think of using smileys. Well a couple of times I've used a cornet - 🍦

Unfortunately, there's no body language in text and, try as you may, you're going to be misunderstood at times. Smileys can help, at least in an obvious "I'm being ironic" way.

Irony!?! Irony!?!
I think it's lost on some.
