"Roast my car" is the new craze on Facebook. Very funny AI responses.
This is Copilot, fed with a photo of my car (which it correctly recognised)...

Driving the boss's Saab 9-5 to the dentist and pleasantly surprised by the sound from the CD Standard built in CD and speakers so far as I know Surely poor systems can be tweaked ... ?

Surely poor systems can be tweaked ... ? You can't tweak the environment, being the car's cabin. There's also engine noise and road vibration, lots of suspension noises and the acoustics of a large sewer. Combine that with the average head unit that compresses reception, DAC and amps into a tiny space with no doubt huge ground plane noise, and the situation is hopeless. I have worked my 'graphic equaliser' into the most unseemly curve and enabled loudness. It would sound appalling on a hi-fi system, but it does the best it can in the car. As I like say, I have improved its sound to the level of 'sh1t'.

Probably around 2020 I looked at used Tesla prices and was staggered to see them at £40,000 plus Very different today £20,000 plus and the odd one under £20k
A thought on EVs in general BTW I assume supply is much greater than it used to be

Due to the battery tech, they're still there waiting for a full charge.

The Canadian Government is introducing a large tax on Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs) to encourage consumers to buy Canada-made goods. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has announced a 100% surcharge on all Chinese-made EVs from 1 October 2024, along with a 25% tax on Chinese steel and aluminium products from 15 October 2024. We could do that, but everyone would have to buy Morgans.

Step daughter now has a Skoda Octavia. Sporty looking estate. Seems good
I confirmed today that this mid range car has a 1 litre engine with, I am told, good acceleration and mpg

Probably has a LPT (Light Pressure Turbo), which allows for small capacity engines. May be 3 cylinder, too.

Hmm, that reads like the writings of someone lacking perspective. What does a car have to do with making robots?
While I agree that all the forecasts massively overestimated the rise in electric car ownership, and public resistance to still unproven infrastructure, I can't see that Tesla will go out of business. They will have to revise their estimates and shed staff, though.

I thought what he was saying was fairly obvious, a major problem with Tesla is Elon Musk's credibility. You haven't seen some of the stuff Musk tweets and retweets, it's decidedly unpleasant, and unhinged in equal measure. He's even gone so far as to retweet post from "genuine" Nazis. He's been attacking Starmer too, and the UK in general, as well as any Americans not bending the knee to Trump. He's attacked the Trans community too, after his own daughter came out as trans. He constantly deadnames her and accuses the " woke mind virus" of " stealing" his son. He seems to have a variety of screws loose currently, and they appear to be geting looser by the day. Maybe he's spent too long around Trump.
