Current Porsche garage labour rate £180/hour. Range Rover £162/hour. Something needs to be done. I personally think they are just saying if the vehicle is outside of warranty then "fuck off". Am I wrong? One of the things I want to check Assume my current mechanic Pete* will carry on maintaining me One thing with Saabs (and Rovers !) is the decreasing availability and increase in price *No not that Pete !

I'd go for something classic, and unobtrusive. You're only here once, Mike:

Funny you should show me that. It used to live just down the road. Signs as well so you could find it

Watched the new Grand Tour film on Amazon - Carnage a Trois.
Haven't laughed so much in ages, absolutely vintage stuff from the boys.

The Mini doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It's a BMW and I've had four, all with poor reliability. Check out reliability statistics for BMW in the USA. It's the same with Mercedes, and Audi have a reputation for very costly parts. No wonder they're mostly bought by fleets in the UK.

Very surprised about the Japanese models even if he only went for diesel Makes me wonder if they don't have a home market for diesel

I've just come in from washing the car. This was because:
1) the car was beyond filthy 2) all the car washes are closed 3) I needed to get out 4) the light was fading, giving me a target
Now I feel smug for about 5 mins. The trees, birds and muddy lane will take a little longer to wipe it away completely.

Exactly! The problem is, the longer you leave it, the more difficult to remove is the tar and other road spillage.

Good move for a very late white motor

I've decided my recent fill up with E10 will be my last - only £5 more to fill up with Super from what I can see.

It's not for me but good luck to it.
So many dull cars on the road these days.

That car looks like a lot of fun to me.
For my motorway drive yesterday I filled up with E5 Super Unleaded and bingo - not just a more economical journey but the engine is much happier, sounding more relaxed and giving a smoother ride. All of us noticed it immediately. So as long as they sell E5 I will be buying unless they price to make it untenable.

I confess to being anti Morgan after watching the total incompetence of the father and son running it on a BBC John Harvey Jones programme

I confess to being anti Morgan after watching the total incompetence of the father and son running it on a BBC John Harvey Jones programme I didn't see it but wasn't it a case of them not wanting to expand and JHJ being the usual kind of grow or die business tycoon?

I confess to being anti Morgan after watching the total incompetence of the father and son running it on a BBC John Harvey Jones programme I didn't see it but wasn't it a case of them not wanting to expand and JHJ being the usual kind of grow or die business tycoon? No. They were incompetent. They called him in as they wanted to increase the amount they built per week, 6 from memory up to a massive 7 or 8 There were obvious, almost trivial things they could have done. There were different units arranged around a yard where the cars moved in a hap hazard way, pushed by hand, criss crossing They made a big deal about hand built, using tools from the 18th century then shoved a bought in *complete* engine. Bought from Rover or Ford I think. Although they wanted to make more they weren't prepared to change and were wedded to the idea of a one year (I think) waiting list and were scared if they made more their precious waiting list would be diminished. Struck me that was pure ego. Think they underpaid their workers too. Apart from that the father and son were eminently dislikeable
