I don't have a car any more, got fed up with the expense and the hopeless state of the roads in the UK. If I did get one again I'd like this, which was designed by my grandfather: rover_concepts_1950_jet1 by losenotaminute, on Flickr

I believe that a copy was made for Jools Holland on a TV program some while ago. A copy in looks only mind you. Just found the program on You tube,
Based on the P4 Rover which I have a soft spot for.

Here is a picture of my Rover P4 80 fitted with a 3.5 ltr Rover V-8 and auto box. I converted it myself.
It was later converted again with an engine and gearbox from a scrap Rover 100. The Mini 1275 GT in the picture was my Dads.

Just parted with my lovely X Class Jag, and have C4 Diesel by the French Lemon company, my 9th Citroen, the best was the Safari. In the past Hillman Imp 2 of,Ford Anglia,Auto-Union 1953 1000s,Ford Mk1 Cortina, Volvo 164,Fiat 126,VW Herbie,Ford Escort RS2000, Dolly 2CV6,Visa 2 off, BX 1900 2 off, Fiat Uno, BX 1600, Zanti, Ford Fiesta (crap junk),Mazda, Nissan Torano,Datsun Sunny,Nisan Micra,Smart Car,Austin A90,Volvo 340,Ford Pilot, And now I ride a electric bike, modified he he Ah, now there is an idea. Lists, I lurve lists - really. Hillman Minx - 50s jobby, huge, heavy, all leather, column change - crap Ford Anglia - first proper lasted in standard form for about three months before a post office van T boned it. The insurance money paid for a slight change. 2" off the floor, wide wheels, mustard yellow paint job, set of Cebies across the front, Lotus twin cam - total and utter fun. Ford Classic - H U G E bought for mini cabbing Fiat 124 - much under rated and a good motor Triumph GT6 Mk1 - This had a great engine and taught me some very valuable lessons about catching terminal oversteer Alfa 1300GT Junior - Still my favourite car. Beautiful looks, nippy for the engine size, provided the foot was welded to the floor and revs kept to maximum, and unbelievably controllable with the fingertips. Alfa Guillietta 2 litre - OK but got cut in half by a Chestnut tree that came down in the 87 storm Alfa Alfetta coupe 2 litre - Bit tail happy this one but still fun Alfa GTV6 - Simply the greatest engine ever made. Another write off after hitting a diesel spill although I would admit that I wasn't doing 30mph at the time Alfa GTV 2000 - rather nice Alfa GTV1750 GTA - even nicer Alfa GTV 1600 - too slow Alfa Sud Green cloverleaf - fun Peugeot 309 GTi - thought I'd have a change and this was surprising fun, very well sorted for front wheel drive. NATURAL BREAK TIME - WENT FROM 17 ROOM GEORGIAN MANSION TO RENTED COTTAGE AFTER LOSING BUSINESS IN THE 80S/90S BUST. Only allowed to spend £500 on a car under bankruptcy rules: Alfa Sud - Great little car which took me quite happily to France to see my sister and all over the UK but finally died of its Russian steel Fiat thingy - the little square box on wheels - the name might come to me. Not too bad, it went and stopped. (Panda) Seat thingy = ditto Another 309GTi. Ford Sierra 1600 Estate - Totally reliable load lugger, kept us going while we tried to get our lives together, kept it for ten years. Driving here from the UK when we moved, the wheels were 3" inside the wheelarches and the exhaust would kill any stray ants. No probs at all. Used as business van carrying wood and furniture , you name it. Only got killed off by the new regs on CO2, otherwise I would probably still be driving it. Audi A4 20V - Very nice retired gentleman's carriage. Not a huge list but I always tended to keep cars for a while. The Alfas from Guillietta to Sud cloverleaf were all at the same time. My house in Suffolk had a mews garage where they all fitted. It all seemed rather fun at the time but I didn't miss that sort of life as much as I expected. All part of life's rich experience. Seeing both sides is a good idea. Wow I thought I'd had a few cars in my time but that's loads... Here's my list; Peugeot 309 GRI 1.6 SE - not bad for my first car Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 - in Miami Blue and my favourite car (until the latest)... Wrote it off Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 - heap of junk I bought without thinking (just wanted something bigger after crashing the tin can) Peugeot 405 SRI 1.9 - Given to me by my parents... Kinder like the 205 although bigger and slower! Ford Focus 1.8 GR (original shape) - meant to be a short term purchase but ended having for ages Ford Ford Fiesta 1.0 - had 100,000 and cost my £450... Lasted about 6 months which wasn't bad considering I was travelling 70 miles a day in it at the time. Ford KA 1.3 (original shape) - I personally loved this car but wifey hated it... Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI (the one that looked like the first Focus) - first foray into diesels Audi A4 1.9 TDI - first Audi... Had loads of issues with the brakes overheating Audi A3 1.9 TDI - still have this, wifey's car. Audi A5 3.0 V6 TDI - from page one of this thread... Still loving every minute

Curses! The cambelt snapped on the Alfa. It's toast. My own fault, been putting off changing it for ages.
On the upside, have put a deposit down on a nice Jag.

Which one? Currently BMW E46 M3 Carbon Black, Imola Red interior, BMW E30 325 Cabriolet, White with Black leather interior, and my wife's little Fiat Punto, Pale Metalic Blue with dark blue upholstery. Can't go into what I've had before as there are so many and I'm sure to leave quite a few out - it's an age thingy. What will be next on the drive a second hand Jaguar F Type Coupe R V8, when they have lost most of their value.

X-Type 3.0 manual AWD. Used to have an E36, just the 320i though. Was a good reliable car. An M3 I would like, but given the winters we can get up here..

Despite dire warnings about DPF removal, my car passed its MOT yesterday with flying colours and a smoke test result of . . . zero! So it smokes less now, after DPF removal with an Ecotune SportsCat and remap, than it did when it had the damned filter installed! Thus proving again that legislation is wrong to enforce solutions on manufacturers, it should only specify the measurements required to be achieved.
This happened before, too, when the likes of Toyota claimed that they could achieve the required emissions without a catalytic converter, but instead we have enforced cats with nasty platinum content in all our vehicles.

You misunderstand, Tony. My car has a cat (in the Ecotune downpipe), but no longer a DPF filter. The throughflow is excellent and the turbo whistle quite audible now.

Just said goodbye to my wife's C3 on a transporter. 55 reg, 50,000 miles. Apparantly you have to keep oil in the engine. Nearly got there in time. She asked me to fix a light, and listen for a rattle underneath, and see what I thought of the engine making a "tappety rattle" . "I take it that it has oil in it" was my comment. "Oh - i don't know" the reply. I topped it up, which quitened the tappets just long enough for another 100 miles before it went bang on last Friday. Love em
