I have heard so many stories about the 'system' letting people down with ongoing medical illnesses.
I know it's hard, but don't let them pull you down Colin, fight back as much as you can.

Me too. I feel so lucky that, so far, the NHS have looked after me well.
Fight for it, Col!

Cynic that I am over politics I don't see much difference between any of them. Sir Humphrey advises them all
Best of luck Colin, keep pushing as the loudest voice is the one heard

OK I'll make a 10KW power amp place out side parliament and play "Walk on the Wild Side" loud and on repeat.

Government bureaucracy eh ? When my Mother in Law died, the DWP were quick to claim back money they'd overpaid her. The same is not true of a previous amount that she overpaid them, for which we're still waiting after 2+ months.

As I advised over at the HFS, get in touch with Age UK; they helped us immeasurably. They can tell you what you're entitled apply for, how to get the correct forms, and best of all how to fill the bloody things in. They've been doing it for a long time and they're trained to navigate the silly-arsed questions asked on the forms. Our chap, Bob, came up with things we'd never even thought about that 'scored points' for our claim(s) and I just had to reinforce the points at interview.

Well here we go again, when my company was stolen from me by my ex-wife and business partner three years ago, I became homeless and very ill. My old friend took me in to look after me and last November we married I managed to salvage a few pounds from the divorce but it did leave me with debts to pay. This left me just enough money to buy a cheap black dustbin bag funeral. Now PIP come along and remove my only form of transport after 4 years, I had to buy a car, so a dip into the Black Bag fund was needed. Found a nice car for £3K now the kind RSA the insurance arm of Mobility sent me my three year no claim report, and I have never had any reason to call upon in the past insurance company for any thing so I had at least 40 years no claims.( Ha Ha Ha)
OK lets get insurance I tried my past insurance company Endsleigh and got a shock the greedy sods want £3000 fully Comprehensive and would not take into account the RSA report at all. I did find insurance after many pitfalls with Admiral but again crazy money £700, before mobility I had a Jag it was only £250 so why is a cheap car these silly prices. So Be Warned the RSA is worthless to Zurich and Endsleigh Tesco AA and a few more, hunt around please , now I have to find a Black Bin Liner again.
DO NOT USE THIS BUNCH OF BANDITS

I've always found Admiral pretty good Colin and I check the compare sites every so often . Sometimes you wonder where the insurance companies get their figures from I've always believed that we should look after the weakest in our society and really wonder about the direction that this '' lovely '' government is taking us .

I have no loyalty to insurance companies, they're all a bunch of pirates and never reward any loyalty to them. Use a broker for the best deal. I use Adrian Flux as they get great deals for modified cars.

I'm not entirely surprised you are struggling with Insurance, Colin
Whenever they get a sniff of abnormality or illness of any description the cost goes through the roof. For instance, last year when I was thinking about going to the US, I looked into travel insurance, and usually it is something around £20 or £50 for a two week period, but because of my health condition, it had risen to £800 for the fortnights holiday.
There are specialist insurance companies that are generally better, but the traditional names are usually reluctant to support anything outside their 'Norm'.

Yers, I had to pay well over the odds for medical cover the last time I travelled outside of the EU. A tiny mention of cancer elicited a 20-minute deep questioning (I kid you not) and a hefty premium. All attempts at use of the word 'remission' fell onto deaf ears.

Colin Would Age concern, Citizens Advice or others be of help to you ?
So much of this is knowing the system or part of the system you are in
