John told me about these things a couple of years ago and I have been meaning to give them a try since then. After a fascinating chat about them with steveeb at The ASBO, I became even more convinced that they would be fun to try in my system. So, finally..... I'll start a new thread to record my experiments.

Be quick when applying the heat because you can buckle the little plates inside supertweeter and / or melt the plastic casing with extended application of the soldering iron .

Yes, I've heard that some people have come unstuck with this. I'm going to use spade connectors for a bit until I know how things will be configured. and I'll solder them up when I decide on a final set-up. I'd think that there's a good chance that my bipole Mirage speakers will need two sets of these things.

I would be interested to read your findings mate . As Steve (of Electric Beach) told me back in November, two sets firing forwards does not work with the Alpair 7 drivers. I can now confirm this, as I find it far too shouty. I think the 2nd set will be going in the horn mouths.

What's the general feeling about firing upwards or forwards?

Firing forwards works for me, tried mounted on the side of the speaker and didn't like it, cant say I noticed much difference firing upwards altough I could try again I suppose.

What's the general feeling about firing upwards or forwards? The general feeling is that you need to try to see which works best to your ears.

I tried the super tweeters on the wall, further out from my speakers and they did nothing to the sound stage. As mentioned above, they sounded far too "shouty". I have now fitted them in the horn mouths, firing backwards. Time will tell if this "works" or if I only need one set of these things.

I am much happier with them in the horn mouths, but I am really not sure that they add anything more than the first set.

That's interesting Kevin . TBH I wasn't sure what a 2nd set would bring to the party .

I am much happier with them in the horn mouths, but I am really not sure that they add anything more than the first set. Once you have a set facing forward to add focus and speed to the front drivers, adding multiples here in other directions, e.g. to the sides, aids dispersion and reduces that glare, but I suspect it could be easy to have too much reflected HF. Having a second pair at the bass output (Taket suggest up inside a bass port) has a different effect. Wired in phase bass gains definition, wired out of phase it gains body and volume; both have merit and a combination is also valid. Mounting inside a port gives two effects, it smooths dispersion but also it's acting on the inside of the cabinet.

Thanks Steve. I guess I could try them out of phase.

Tried mine out of phase as Steveeb suggested but bass appeared a bit bloated and not as defined . I have also experimented with various positions and best results for me are mounted on top of the speakers in small boxes firing forwards approx 30 degrees upwards . Nice upgrade for not a lot of money and overall sound does appear smoother after approx 70 hours use , also messed with a few cables but could not detect any real difference . Has anyone tested these against any of the other Taket models ?

Brian popped across the other day with his mounted in small wooden boxes. We tried them on the 57s just by blu taking them to the sides on the inside. I felt the sound stage contacted but was laser sharp.
We then put them on top firing up at maybe 15-20 degrees. Again just blu tacked in place. I was really taken aback by what they do to the sound.
The treble is smoother, midrange with female vocals is gorgeous and dont even attempt to ask me why but the bass is cleaner and more refined.
I dug out the velcro and the boxes have remained on top firing slightly upwards towards the sweet spot of my listening position.
Brian kindly wired them into my speaker cables and let me keep them for less than it cost him to build them. Im delighted and have been listening to them at every opportunity.
A really cost effective improvement.
Im going to invest in another pair and follow Steves advice regards the Frugels and place them at the rear firing vertically.
Well worth a try IMHO.

At no more than £40 delivered from the land of the rising sun, it seems silly for me to not try these with my AN-E's... brian2957 (Hi Brian ) do you have a photo of them fitted to the little boxes you sourced from The Works? The dreaded Photobucket ransom image appears in your previous post

Many thanks again Brian... I've got a couple of weeks before my super-tweeters arrived from Japan, so that'll should give me more than enough time to sort out what I need
