AS the NAD has opened up I had to dial back the bass quite a lot lowering the crossover a bit and also adjusting the gain lower down Having DSP with the bass allows that control over the bass. I like my sound fast tight and without any sense of overhang or bloating the sound. This allows the detail of the mid and treble to come through but you can still feel the bass kicking you in the stomach when needed. Its why I do not like headphones I enjoy feeling the music in my body as well as listening to it. What has changed a lot is the low level detail of the system it sounds engaging at lower volume levels Like all things it a doubled edged sword on most music its great but on the odd track it shows up the faults more, a lot less hiding place for bad sound engineering whilst listening, but rewards a lot more on well recorded albums.

Having DSP gives a lot of flexibility of the bass and with regards to system changes it often takes me time to get it right I totally use my ears in my case and have a listening test tracks of my favourite music get this right I am happy. If I can improve on them the SQ all the better. I start of with making sure the guitar sounds right. I usually use Jeff Beck for this Nadia and also will tell me what its doing with tabla too. I will then listen to something like the Black Messiah by George Duke its a great test track for bass keyboards and guitar. I might then put on waking the witch to hear if I can hear the church bells ring a tricky test for any system. I then put on some classic rock stuff like Gov't Mule Deep Purple and maybe something heavy and complex like Dream Theatre I will then try Invisible Beauty of my flower to see how much detail I can bring through over the bass (keyboards and drums can easily get taken over by the bass). This for me tests the system to extremes with bass and overhang and very easy to trip up systems Last but not least I check to see if it does Koryojang to see how well the mid and bass integrates. The drum roll should give you the sense of going across the spectrum's with a almost quadrophonic sound. Once I get all these balances right the sound is pretty set up for my taste. This means adjusting slopes gain and crossover until I get the balance right but can be done in real time I also know it is to my taste and would not suit most people ears as a lot of people might find the sound over powering.

Gosh John it is indeed one hell of a long & winding road you seem to be on.....!!!! Personaly I think you may have missed the correct turn off miles back. I would get yer Sat Nav checked out pronto, or like me just stick to a good old fashion OS map of Britain.

They certainly look good, John, like a scale-up from yours. Are the air motion transformers Heil units?

I had a few little experiments recently I tried some audio fuses that were being sold, not really much to report back but these were quite cheap and just wanted to get a handle of them in my system I guess if I ever I go for more expensive ones they would need to be sale or return. I just put the S1NX vibration platform under my Direct Digital amplifier. I really like how its made everything more musical, just takes me even deeper into the music so well worth the effort I think Martin will be writing a proper review Improvements to sound stage, micro-dynamics, detail and bass. The sound is very natural and totally non fatiguing

Some further listening thoughts I was listening to Temporal Analogues of Paradise ( Shawn Lane Jeff Snipe and Jonas Hellborg)It has some great playing; what the platform has helped with is to bring out the texture of the instruments. Example's of this is when Jeff is just using his sticks to create rhythm you can hear the wood being hit or when Jonas is playing bass, the bass harmonics are more clear, I am really hearing into the technique/style that Jonas is using everything is natural.

My impressions of the Electric Beach support shelf forming after a lot of music are: faster, lighter, greater clarity, micro-dynamics, more insight. It's all subtle, but definitely there.

I done a few little more tweaks and a new Blue ray player that can stream Spotify. I been playing with Walker Extreme Silver Treatment (bought year ago but only tried on valve pins to no effect I could hear)on all my electrical connectors. Result more depth, taking me deeper into the soundstage. I been trying different methods to get Spotify to perform well. Initially with the PC using a isolator I then got a LG BP645 that streams Spotify and prefer this route as SQ is better than using my PC. Using CAT 7 to the player and Stan's cable www.beresford.me/S/tc-3618.htm to the amp SQ with Spotify still not as good as the original to my ears but gap has gotten smaller

Visited Vic today I not been for awhile and we had a very interesting afternoon The System www.trans-fi.com/my-system The new speaker baffle design certainly works well Vic has also modified the Bantam a bit using a cap to limit its bass (Vic has active bass so does need to be sending so much bass to his Markaudio 12p Alpairs), this has helped free up the sound a lot. The other big change is the Benedict Audio phonostage which is a sensational Phonostage www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0215/Benedict_Audio_HotHead_JFET_MM_MC_Phonostages_Review.htm What has happened is the noise floor has been lowered a lot and just allowing the music to flow on vinyl. It was one of the most musical experiences I ever heard, pinpoint imaging and micro detail but most important musical flow The digital system is not in the same league in Vic system. I think MQn has gone as far as it can and the gains to be had is by adopting a specialist low noise PC based system similar to the route taken by people like Gaz Tim and Tony C is the way to push this further.

Well finally got a HUDL this means I can stream Spotify direct to the NAD D7050 via CAT 7 means less stuff getting in the way of the signal and is the best I got Spotify to sound..... very happy!

Good solution, John. We played around with a Hudl recently and decided it was exceptional value for money.

Yes it is very responsive and easy to use I got it on at a good price too It allows the NAD to network into Spotify so is streaming direct I am testing it out right now I still think it not up to my file based system but the gap a lot closer. Not quite as organic. Can hear it most with Piano based music

I just treated the Ethernet cable with Walker Extreme Silver treatment Initial impressions more organic perhaps on par with my file based system.
