I been down the valve amp route Ali I would not get the speed I like unless I spent loads. Used to have a SAC Glowmaster and prefer the Bantam in my system. I would consider a SPUD amp as reckon they be fast enough if I could find one with a bit more power so knew it be able to rock Had the Mini T has great Transparency but the Bantam is so much better Perhaps if I went totally active with the Mini t for the treble and Bantam for the mids that might work I would suggest an OTL. Would be great running mid and top IMHO, should give you all the speed you need and massive soundstaging. Don't have to cost loads, ask Alan to build you one, or go for one of the Transcendent Sound kits. Don't need grunt for just running mid and top, especially with your sensitive drivers John.

Thank you for taking the time trying the amplifier out John and for your observations.
The amp is a one off digital design, (You can change the switching frequencies algorithms and latency's etc from a programmer we knocked up) switches around the 1.6Ghz region) no FETS on chip switching, delivering very close to 24ns switching. Maximum power output is 120Rms, currently sitting around 82Wrms for the best trade off, can deliver close to 28amps of current. Bandwidth of 120Khz (6th harmonic)
Totally grain free presentation the project was conceived to put to bed the the mis information regarding digital amplifiers and mechanical sounds.
When fed with a high end source and good mains it does produce some most pleasing sounds.
Fear not will not go into production.
An OTL design can sound good, some of the Burning amps make some good noises, though my experience with them has been a 50/50 issue with reliability.

Yes, Output TransfomerLess John. I've heard a couple of the Transcendent kits, they are very good indeed, as I'm sure Alan's (Firebottle) new creation will be.

Went to visit a friend to hear the latest update of MQn as now uses Kennel driver instead of WASAPI. MQn using the Cunas is now beating the Caiman using a file based DVD player, on my last visit I could not separate this time MQn has more depth. MQn was being used on Windows 8.1 laptop

Over the last few weeks I had Tony's digital amp in my system and their is now no going back to the Bantam Golds as I would just hear the limits It’s now getting closer to the time when I change my amplification set up and I need to take stock of possible different routes to take. Options (1) Buy a second hand amp of EBAY It’s a simple route to take but no idea what to get (2) Make a DIY power amp something like the Hypex UcD180HG Lots of great reviews and would easily lead to going fully active in the future. The build not to bad either. (3) Going fully active using something like the Mini DSP HD www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-4x10-hd or a Motu Ultralite MK3 USB (both can be run of batteries). Then adding 2 Amptastic amps for mid and treble and hope by using two I get a bit more headroom so not having the issues with soft clipping at the levels I enjoy listening too. The amp is better than the Bantam but has similar issues with the levels I enjoy (4) Going Direct digital with one of the NAD Amplifiers as they have a sub out so can still run my bass separately and when funds allow go fully active with something like a Rednet 1 or 3 and another direct digital amp At present I no idea of which way I go but off work next week so hoping I could hear different approaches. I gone of the idea of the OTL as hear so many mixed thoughts and no way to hear one.

I tried the NAD 7050 today would be a step backwards to my current set up Must admit the set up in the demo room was sounding pretty crude using Monitor Audio GX300 and NAIM Cd transport that can play files. Just far to much bass overhang really hard to hear into the mix as the bass overhang was getting in the way with the rest of the sound. Tomorrow I have a little listen to the latest version of MQn with the Cunas DAC I will also comparing the Amptastic with some Bantam Monos on a system I know well
